Very modern city. Great architecture and very good for shopping and partying!!

Try the boat trips, and avoid certein areas like the red district.

I stayed at Hotel Bazaar good rooms (cool design), very good food, nice atmosphere and good service close to the museums (photgraphy, architecture, ...)

A dish-washer with an entrepreneurial mindset decided to open his own restaurant and borrowed money from his boss. Now Bazaar is a fun place to eat at, with affordable dishes and a nice middle-eastern atmosphere. The place also serves as a hotel where each room is unique and different from the others. Located on Witte de Wittstraat, Rotterdam.

Take a stroll down the dock by the free Haven Museum. There's a boat placed on the dock itself where tourists can enter and look at sailor's knots and have a chat with local sailors. Then walk your way towards the White House and experience the Old Harbour with it's Famous Cubical Houses.

The modern-myth says that there was a kebab owner that started making a special dish for those waiting for a haircut in the nearest hair saloon, but the word for the hairdresser's in dutch is Kapsalon. The dish is served in an aluminum trey. It consists of showarma meat (or chicken) on a bed of French fries, topped with a lot of garlic sauce and/or hot chili sauce and cheese, baked in an oven and then served with iceberg salad on top. This is considered a must try, especially after a rough night down town and only costs about 4 euros.

Rotterdam is a great city! Especially when you think of abseiling down the Euromast! So go and do it!

nice modern architecture! recommended to avoid witte de with straat in the night. the zoo (very big) is defo worth seeing.

Well, Rotterdam is very near Amsterdam, and is a very nice city, although there isn't that much to see there. It is the longest harbour in the world, so you can take boat tours down that. Also, the euromast is there, which offers a wicked view over the city, especially in the morning or evening, with the sunset/rise. Locals in Rotterdam can usually speak English, and suprisingly very well. Also, if you plan to go to Amsterdam, staying in Rotterdam may be an idea, because it might be cheaper to stay there and just go to AMsterdam for thenday then stay in Amsterdam.
