The Buried Village in New Zealand is amazing. It is surreal to see how quickly a volcano can overwhelm a village. Be sure to hike the trail to see the stream and the waterfall.

Soak in the atmosphere but avoid smelling it. The smell from the thermal mud is overwhelming at first, but you adjust to it.

Be sure to visit the Polynesian Spa.
