Piha is a beautiful beach away from the chaotic city! the drive is scenic and the beach isn't overcrowded much. Be careful in the surf as it can be rough and dangerous, usually there are lifeguards on the beach! You can climb the track to the top of Lion's Rock for a great view.. remember your jandals cuz the sand gets crazy hot!

Tourist attraction time! Piha was used for the film "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian".

A wine growing are to the west of Auckland in which a number of Dalmatian families settled and established vineyards. Some of the wines from this area can be great, although they are probably being squezzed out now by the spread of Auckland.

Waitakere is one of those places that a lot of people miss as they fly in to Auckland and leave just as quickly. The black iron sand beaches of the west coast, gannet colonies and surf beaches of Muriwai and Piha and scenic drive which has some amazing views, windy roads and native bush.

Waimauku is a fairly quiet small community between the Helensville and Kumeu countryside. There's a primary school, dairy shops and a medical centre as well as a few restaurants lodges. Theyre also building a new mall on the main highway.

The most beautiful place in the world!! paradise! very small beach community on the west coast. muriwai beach, the main beach is good for swimming and beginner surfers as there are lifeguards on duty in the summer, and maori bay which is where most of the locals surf. There are no lifeguards at maori bay and strong rips. There's a top shop for takeaways and the bottom shop (Sand Dunez Cafe) has excellent food and ice cream. There's a caravan park for campers and horse riding centres on ohia road as well as "Only Fools and Horses Homestay" . Many hidden beauties in this little paradise.

Don't stash your keys under your wheel when you go for a surf.
