Masaya, Managua & Surrounds, Nicaragua
Great Volcano. Easy to get to. Can drive to the summit. Buses from Masaya town center or from Managua. Nice visitors shop on the road up to the summit.

Remember to face the car away from the volcano so you can drive away quickly if there is an incident....

Masaya, Managua & Surrounds, Nicaragua
When you are visiting the volcano, definitely make sure to bring water and good hiking shoes. There are a lot of hiking opportunities around to get to the good views, both moderate and easy. From the parking lot beside the volcano, there are some steps that are a fairly easy climb if you're in any kind of shape, from which there is a great view. There is also a hiking path leading up to some other views, but this is a more strenuous ascent and in the hot climate, water is a must. Also make sure to bring sun screen and avoid visiting between 11AM-2PM, when the sun is unrelenting.

The volcano at Masaya is an amazing sight. Steam gushes from the crater, and it is possible to drive right to the rim, get out and walk around on the viewing platform while you gaze into its fiery depths.

El Eden, Managua & Surrounds, Nicaragua
This tip is actually not about El Eden itself but Laguna de Apoyo, a volcanic lake. Spend some time at a bar or restaurant and enjoy the perfectly warm water. Special tip: Take a left when you made your way down to the lake level and follow the dust road until it ends. Wonderful place!
