Beautiful country. Hard working, down to earth people. The south is very green, even cold. Rent a 4x4 and enjoy a ride in the dessert. Bustan Palace is the place.

stay at the Chedi or at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Nice city, quiet and the Omani people are nice. Try the Omani Halwa, if you have not tried it then you have not visited Oman

Location: Muttrah Corniche A basic, but clean hotel, I stayed there for longer time. The stuff is friendly. The location in the corniche is just perfekt to explore Muttrah the old part of Muscat. Moderate price.

Hotel The Chedi, Oman, WHOW, received an award of being the hotel in the middle east with the best wine cellar , and indeed they had an impressive collection.

If walking in the sweltering heat isn't for you, I recommend negotiating a safe private tour with a taxi driver and seeing this beautiful town for all it's glory. Don't miss the majestic architecture and soft sandy beaches. Just don't forget that extra layer of sunscreen every two hours!
