Open toed shoes are a plus in the humidity there, never shower away from home with out wearing flip flops. The local fungus will get you. Don't go barefoot anywhere in the Philipines, there are tape worms in the sand and the smallest cut can become a home to these parasites.

Once a US navy installation, the base has been redeveloped into outlet stores. The once milatray warehouse are privately held and hold goods from all over Asia. Tour the housing section of the old base if you are a fan of Spainish architure similar to that found on the Califoirnia naval bases.

Subic is a former home of one of the largest US military facilities outside of the US mainland, Subic Bay Naval Base. This former site of a US Naval Base is host to many tourist attractions which include casinos, beach resorts, diving/snorkelling, parks, beachside huts and cottages and historical artifacts. Subic itself has few beach resorts and currently no casinos. The most noted beach resort is White Rock. Another resort that offers a vibrant nightlife aside from simple room accommodations, is Treasure Island Resort. This resort houses the legendary Dryden's, a bar that is known for its drinks and entertainment.

You can rent a house on the former naval base for relatively cheap... a great idea if you're bringing a huge group or staying for an extended time. The houses were built for American families so they are nice and clean. You can cook your own food and the former base is clean... nice to drive around, take walks, etc.
