Koronadal, Visayas Islands, Philippines When you are in Koronadal City, take a side trip to Lake Sebu which is barely an hour away. Enjoy the indigenous culture and savor the fresh fish from the lake. The locals has created various ways of cooking "tilapia". You will have this fish in sweet and sour, fried, "kinilaw", and paksiw. Having dinner or lunch at a restaurant which is floating on the lake is indeed a wonderful treat. You will also be entertained by young people showcasing their native dances. After eating, enjoy the karaoke on board. Then, take the 1 hour cruise that will bring you around the lake guided by a local tourist who are very helpful. The cruise guide is supposed to be bilingual but its not. The local language, b'laan, is nice to hear. After the cruise, enjoy shopping of locally made products... mostly earrings and necklaces using beads. On your way back to Koronadal and off to General Santos City, pass by the huge pineapple plantation at the foot of Mt. Matutum. Its pineapples and pineapples as far as your eyes could see. You may also buy fresh fruits along the highway. Ten years ago, the road to Lake Sebu was not so good. Today, it is very accessible and safe. Good tip? Good tip? (+1) Boracay, Visayas Islands, Philippines My all time favorite Place. I've been to the Philippines 3 times and I love the people there. A lot of the people really have respect for tourist. Good tip? (+1) Boracay, Visayas Islands, Philippines I had an unfavorable incident in one of the restaurants in Boracay that offers seafood buffet. I had a terrible stomach ache so I had to stay inside the hotel till I have gotten better. The hotel staff warned us that some of the restaurants might be reheating the leftovers so most of food that are served might not be fresh. Suprisingly, stomach ache is quite a common incident to travelers who had tried seafood buffets. My suggestion?Better go to D'Talipapa and do the marketing yourself. There are small restaurants around the market that offers to cook whatever you have bought. This can ensure that what you are eating is fresh and not just last night's leftovers. Good tip? (+1) Cebu City, Visayas Islands, Philippines Be sure to take advantage of all of the little islands around Cebu, which have beautiful beaches but not so many tourists. If you like diving or snorkeling there are lots of great places to go--but plan in advance with a travel agent because lack of organization can make planning inside of Cebu quite confusing if you don't speak the local dialect or are being escorted everywhere by a local. Good tip? (0) Borocay Island, Visayas Islands, Philippines Go diving on Yapak II to see reef sharks, jacks and tunas!! Good tip? (0) Panay, Visayas Islands, Philippines Panay is in between the islands of mindoro and mindanao. It's known to be a place where the devils or witches still live, which is "Capis", a town in the island of Panay. If you're trying to go to Boracay, a very famous tourist spot in the philippines, you must first go to Panay and then ride a mini boat to Boracay island. Good tip? (0) Boracay, Visayas Islands, Philippines Boracay is an island just off of the island Panay, Philippines. (0) Mandaue City, Visayas Islands, Philippines Mandaue City is one of the cities that make up urban Cebu. It doesnt hold much along the lines of traditional tourist areas, mostly it is residential and industrial in nature. For those that have a little more time to poke around are interested in bringing home trinkets mandaue holds alot of export houses for furniture and jewelry (Cebu exports high quality pieces to the US and europe) and its possible you can get some bargains at more than reasonable prices if you can befriend a local who's in the know. aside from that i'd say the best time for tourists to visit the city is during the Mantawi Festival (used to be in August but was recently transfered to May). The festival showcases street dancing and native delicacies. Good tip? (0) |
