(0) Katowice, Silesia Region, Poland jak dla mnie to tylko mecze reprezentacji ;) Good tip? (0) Katowice, Silesia Region, Poland Katowice is an industrial city, depressing at the first glance, but really fascinating and entertaining when you start to get to know it better! Good tip? (0) Katowice, Silesia Region, Poland Katowice is a not a place to go nuts over but it does have some practical advantages if you're travelling in Poland. Its bus and railroad stations are quite busy and many buses and express trains in southern Poland run through Katowice. It's also part of the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union and if you count the surrounding cities (e.g. Chorzów, Gliwice, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Tychy etc.), the population is approximately 2 million. Its size means that you'd see the typical features of a large city with extensive public transportation, shopping malls, hospitals, universities, concert halls, office buildings, factories etc. Apart from the practical advantages, there is a zoo in Chorzów and a brewery in Tychy.
