go all the way up the hill to the pena castle. it's a real fairytale castle with great views of the land and ocean :) also, don't forget to eat queijadas :) a local sweet

Beautiful place very traditional in the old part and very classy in the new part ... Go to the beaches and fish restaurants because both are amazing.

If you like ruines and palaces, you really have to go to Sintra!! It's also a nice place to sit on a terrace and enjoying the sun!

Sintra is a lovely little town just North of Lisbon. It is situated in the hills and there is a beautiful castle on the top of one of these hills that give you a grand view of the area. Sintra is known for its quaint little buildings and of course Port. You'll be able to stroll around and find dozens of little shops selling you port from this years vintage but more importantly from excellent vintages from the past... Bottles from very good years like the early 1930's can go for as much as a 1000 euro's. So bring your credit card!

It was a very cool experience staying hotels in sintra if you pay good money. Rooms are as if they were preserved for ages and beds with white mosquito nets, white clean hand made sheets, old furnitures. Also I cannot forget the peacful sound of the violin just at the entrance of the historical church played by a young man. One day will be enough to see around.

check out the surf there. a real neckbreaking beachbreak is right in front of the restaurant at praia do guincho... meet the locals in the water, have fun but don´t get drowned! enjoy!

Sintra is the quaintest little town I've seen in my life: situated high up, it is close to the bothanic gardens, has a wonderful structure of winding streets and the Santa Eufemia mansion used to function as a youth hostel when I went there surfing. Cheap car hire from Lisbon airport, the coastal breaks of the Atlantic are excellent though quite cold, the rental prices of the boards are horrific however: 20 euro 10 years ago for 3 hours... The excursions from Sintra however show some excellent places like Cascais. Highly recommended! (Also on the list of UNESCO as world heritage)

Sintra was absolutely amazing and if you only have time to do one thing, its gotta be the imposing multicoloured castle perched on top of the mountain. You can get a bus from near the train station up there, but if yer game and have the time I reccommend the walk which takes in some amazing views along the way and the chance to check out the moorish architechture too!
