Local and street food is 100% better than restaurant food there. The most high scale restaurant in rural parts of PR is Red Lobster or American Steak House

Old San Juan is so much fun! The Bacardi factory is across the bay from downtown and is pretty interesting... with free booze! There are lots of great small restaurants, including Barrachina, where the 1st Pina Colada was made... YUM!!!!

Keep sight of the roads, much of the island's vegetation can be seen.

Make sure you go during a thursday or friday because in old san juan on fridays they shut down the roads starting around happy hour for the rest of the night for party time in the roads. This place has crazy nightlife and your right on the ocean. Great weekend getaway if you ask me and i have found tickets from miami down for 50 dollars on occassion so always check websites for hot deals.

Get out of the city, too crowded. We stayed on the east coast.

When in Old San Juan.. Raices Resturante is perfect to experience true Puerto Rican cuisine..

If you get a chance, take a walk at night with a group of people around the fortress area of San Juan. It is beautiful, and full of photo ops! We enjoyed a nice dinner at Barrachina's in the old town area.

Wander the streets of Old San Juan and explore the old fort! There is a huge field near the fort where locals gather for picnics and kite flying.

Do not pay more than $13 (total, not per person) for a cab from the Isla Verde or Condado beach areas to the downtown! Negotiate a price before getting in the cab. $13 is the maximum, each way, that you should pay.
