have a goot time if you ever go there.... Good tip? (0) San Juan, Puerto Rico If you ever find yourself in Puerto Rico, you HAVE to check out Old San Juan. The buildings are beautiful and the town is adorable. From the sweet scented bright flowers to the bath warm waters of the caribbean the island is beatuiful throughout, but Old San Juan really is a facinating spot to check out. Their fort is still intact and there, I did not get to tour it however, definately something I would do if I were to go again.. Good tip? (0) San Juan, Puerto Rico Check out the salsa clubs. (0) Cataño, Puerto Rico Cataño is known as " La Antesala de la Capital " (prelude of the capital), because of its location across the bay from the capital Puerto Rico, the city of San Juan.
Cataño was founded in 1927 by Hernando de Cataño. Cataño was named after its founder, who lived and helped to develop the region at the beginning of the Spanish colonization. Originally, the town was known as the " Hato de las Palmas de Cataño " (cluster of the palms), but shortened to Cataño when the city was established. Cataño, located on northern coast, within then Metropolitan Area is one of the localities which has best preserved and most jealously guarded the traditions and customs of life in the island. Bordering the Atlantic Ocean, north of Bayamón and Guaynabo; east of Toa Baja and west of Guaynabo. Its rivers are: Bayamón and El Caño de Cataño. Adopted on September 5, 1974. Driving Distance: 13.6 miles * Driving Time: 25 minutes * Limits: North Atlantic Ocean South Bayamn and Guaynabo East Guaynabo and Atlantic Ocean West Toa Baja Among the many picturesque reminders of the past preserved here is the old train used for transporting the sugar cane crop which stops between the green trees on the modern urban development area of Levittown, a residential area belonging to the city of Toa Baja. The inexpensive Cataño ferry leaves daily every half hour, (San Juan-Cataño) from 6am to 10pm. From the dock in Cataño, you can walk to the famous Bacardi Rum Plant, which is the largest rum distillery in the world, processing some 100,000 gallons daily. Visitors may tour the plant, the tour will take you through special exhibits explaining the fermentation, distilling and bottling processes, a small museum exhibits Bacardi's history and a free rum cocktail. There are many well-known " catañeses ", among them: Pedro Juan Soto, and first woman contralor Ileana Colon Carlo. (0) Guaynabo, Puerto Rico (gwei-NAH-bo) Guaynabo is known as " Capital del Deporte " (capital of the sport). Puerto Rico's first settlement, Caparra, was founded in the area in 1508 by Juan Ponce de León. Guaynabo derives its name from a Taino Indian term which means "lugar de aguas dulces". The Caparra Ruins Historical Museum Park, the first Spanish settlement on Puerto Rico (1508), includes the remains of explorer Juan Ponce de León's residence. Guaynabo is located in the northern coast of the island, north of Aguas Buenas; south of Cataño; east of Bayamón; and west of San Juan. Fruits are the principal crops grown in the surrounding rural area. There are many well-known " guaynabeños ", among them: politician Román Baldorioty de Castro , Jose R. (0) San Juan, Puerto Rico Club Monaco was a lot of fun. right on the Beach with indoor and outdoor bar, and indoor dancefloor. However...If you plan on hanging out in the sand area near he outdoor bar, i suggest you bring bug spray. The sand fleas will get you and you wont feel the bites, but you will see and feel them itching like crazy the next morning! Good tip? During the day there are great places to sightsee, castles, old ships, and of course there's always the pirate legend. Good tip? (0) San Juan, Puerto Rico Make sure you go during a thursday or friday because in old san juan on fridays they shut down the roads starting around happy hour for the rest of the night for party time in the roads. This place has crazy nightlife and your right on the ocean. Great weekend getaway if you ask me and i have found tickets from miami down for 50 dollars on occassion so always check websites for hot deals. Good tip? (0) |
