Stay at the Rapsodia Hotel. Nothing special but relatively clean and convenient to the action. Make sure to stroll out on the adjacent pedestrian area where everyone in town seems to come in the evenings. Enjoy the sidewalk cafes!

Visit the great medieval painted monastery on the UNESCO list of World heritage.

From this village you can start hiking in the volcanic Calimani Mountains, to the 12-Apostles Rock and the Pietrosu Peak (2100 m.). Bus from/to Vatra Dornei (train from/to Bucharest and Cluj Napoca).

Visit the Culture Palace, the body of St Paraschiva and drink Grasa de Cotnari with a native girl.

Suceava is cool to visit. it was a capital city many year back, when Moldavia was an independent state (now, Moldavia, Transylvania, Muntenia and Dobrogea contitute one state, Romania... we speak the same language.. so no big fuss about that)... anyway... suceava has a few places to see, but should be included in an area program, meaning that it doesn't take that much to visit and you'd want to head out to the monasteries which some compare to the Sistine Chapel due to their paintings which are quite unusual... i found them fascinating although i'm not religious.
hostels are cheap there, i know some people in suceava so just ask...

They like to kiss cheeks 3 times in a row, drink digestives and eat fat... food is great, people are usually nice... it's cheap to stay here, I know loads of people in town so just ask! first university in the country, memorial houses, museum - they have this miniature louvre-like palace they call the Palac eof culture.

Well, i would recommend to carry some WHITE toilet paper to this place, since the one you can buy for a reasonable price is pink and horrible.

You can find near Suceava famous historical places of North of Romania, like the Monasters in Tumor, Moldovita, Sucevita etc.
