Johannesburg is the economic hub of South Africa, places to see include Gold Reef City and Monty Casino, there are some great clubs and bars. A word of advice always take a local with when going out at night and always be on the lookout as tourists are an easy target for criminals.

Go to the East Gate shopping centre near " Burma lake". Here you can spend a lot of money! =)

Swanky, metropolitan, sprawling and dangerous ... though apartheid is over, black and white areas are pretty distinct ... and some of the former can indeed be dangerous ... don't venture there alone or at night ... guns and murders and lootings are common ... and richer folk often have elaborate security arrangements .... Joburg is among the world's top crime spots ... in several ways, it is like Africa's New York ... plenty of commerce, conferences and contrasts, high-rise and low-rise, ... lots to see and eat and do .... and the central transport hub for the region...

Johannesburg was not a city i wanted to stay long, Very difficult for a women to be there alone, as women can drive through the red flashlight at night because it is to dangerous to stop. But as you are there go to the soweto, with a guide unfortunately, but it is the only way to do it. It makes you feel how lucky we are, as you see a little child foulding it's carbon box to the floor and sleeps on it like it is a real house.
A good airport and a place to continue your amazing travel through the rest of beautiful South Africa. Victoria Waterfalls in Zimbabwe, Zulu culture in Swaziland, amazing animals in Kruger, Blyde river Canyon and so on.

The best guest house in Sandton, Johannesburg is Le Chatelat , without a doubt. The rooms are amazing, the food is outstanding and best of all you feel like you are in France.
