The landscape is simply stunning, but despite of Apartheid its the most racist town I`ve ever been to. Avoid to go out on your own, you will regret it!

Driving by ourself for a foreigner might be difficult, excuse the minibus drivers, they drive like they want to drive and will push their way through traffic.
Joburg is a bit dangerous, but do avoid some of the dangerous areas, just keep a look out at and judge by yourself if you think your situation is dangerous.

Hillbrow is a section of Johannesburg, South Africa. Today it is the part where the Nigerian Mafia lives. It seems it so dangerous, that even the police does not venture to go to there. When I was living there, 40 years ago, it was a booming place where all the young immigrants lived. I was member of the Summit Club, a place for big enjoyment. It was good, it is not anymore.

its ghetto as fuck. bring a gun and machete. a big gun. always walk around in a big group and dont go out at night. you will get mugged and your girlfriend/wife will get raped and killed. good luck and let God have mercy on your soul

Swanky, metropolitan, sprawling and dangerous ... though apartheid is over, black and white areas are pretty distinct ... and some of the former can indeed be dangerous ... don't venture there alone or at night ... guns and murders and lootings are common ... and richer folk often have elaborate security arrangements .... Joburg is among the world's top crime spots .... in several ways, it is like Africa's New York ... plenty of commerce, conferences and contrasts, high-rise and low-rise, wealth and poverty ... lots to see and eat and do .... and the central transport hub for the region...

Best tip: Fly in, stay in the airport and fly out to whatever safari you're heading to as soon as you can. Jburg is NYC '75 times five for crime. Scary city.

Die grösste Stadt des Landes. Sehr gefährliche gegend. Absolut nicht zu empfehlen ins Zentrum zu gehen.

Johannesburg itself is not a place where you can spend weeks of your holidays. There is not much to see, but, of course, it's worth going and just inhale the spirit of SA's capital. An annoying detail is, that it's quite dangerous when it's dark.
