Torremolinos, Andalucía Region, Spain Swam in the chilly Mediterranean Sea here. Some opted for a trip to Africa (Tangiers) for one day. There was a high rocky and dangerous cliff near where we swam. This was the final travel stop by scenic BIG window coach from Granada, to Seville, to Malaga, for a seven-day tour, while I was in high school. The bus experience was quite exciting. The TIA plane experience was another story altogether! The mountains were beautiful and picturesque. I traveled with my brother for the duration. I was 14yrs-old. Good tip? (+1) Malaga, Andalucía Region, Spain be aware of gipsies! they steal your money and you will not notice!!! Good tip? (0) Malaga, Andalucía Region, Spain Really not that interesting...it's like benidorm... Good tip? (0) Malaga, Andalucía Region, Spain Shopping here is a danger! Massive danger! Good tip? (0) Torremolinos, Andalucía Region, Spain be carrefull when you pass street, spanish drivers are crazy Good tip? (0) Malaga, Andalucía Region, Spain malaga is a kl place 2 be very hot in summer but nice 2 visit Good tip? (0) Malaga, Andalucía Region, Spain Whenever we visited Spain we landed in Malaga and drove the rest of the way to Sotogrande (near Gibraltar); the people I worked for in Paris had their second house in Spain. The road between Malaga and Estapona is known locally as the road of death... because the local vehicle sport is known as bullfighting.... a car leaves the long line of cars and drives head on at full speed towards oncoming traffic and at the last minute they try to pull back into the line of traffic if the cars in the line will allow it.... many don't make it. There have been some horrific accidents with cars driving full speed into oncoming trucks... and noone slows down at all! Call it lunacy or extreme sport but it is very dangerous. I didn't really look around Malaga... mostly the airport and going to and from the place. Good tip? (0) Torremolinos, Andalucía Region, Spain 1. Exchanging Money: Always better with a local business, i.e., place to eat, etc., than at a bank.
2. Danger Annoyances: pickpockets and purse grabbers, ESPECIALLY on a Vespa, everywhere.
3. Interacting with locals: You are a necessary evil. IF YOU WILL TRY and speak Spanish, you will go TWICE as far, porque hablando en Espanol es muy facil.
4. Nightlife: Leave your purse in the hotel under the bed or take OUT a drawer and stick it UNDER the drawer and just bring enough cash and and I.D. and be ready to dance and drink ALL, and I do mean ALL night long until the sun comes up. Then, you crash on the morning beach until the noise/sun is too much, get a bite, then go to the room again, crash, wake up (Dinner starts at 10pm) and start all over again. Life is a bitch, ain't it pard? Good tip? (0) Malaga, Andalucía Region, Spain When you arrive at Malaga airport , have a look around for the train station , its only 50m from the exit door, just past the taxies. Taking the train to Malaga itself, or in the opposite direction to the costas of Torremolinos, Benelmadena, Arroyo De La Miel or Fungirola will cost under €5 , compared with the local cabs which will cost from €15-50.... and yes , they will try to rip you off. Also if out (especially around torremolinos/ benelmadena) at night, watch over your drink, a regular problem (but kept quiet ) is muggers slipping powder or tabs into your glass, then helping you outside to be mugged or worse...
