The beach is nice, but very, very crowded in summer time, and cafe food can be a little expensive. Some cute souvenirs, though.

The big Balcón de Europa.

*  The Balcon de Europa (Balcony of Europe) was constructed in 1487. Formerly a IX Century Castle, it is now a viewing point above the sea.  Not only does the Balcon de Europa have beautiful views over the Mediterranean and surrounding Sierra Almijara mountain range, but also the sandy coves and rocky outcrops that make Nerja such a unique holiday destination.

Nerja is really beautiful !! good to relax, lovely beaches, for you lovers raveling... the beach is pebbled and cut into pieces by huge rocks, so that makes a lot of little private beaches : ) the town is small, and cute and quiet : ) I read somewhere you can go horse riding here too, alhough I didn't get the chance... next time maybe... anywayz, you can get there from Malaga center; just get a bus to nerja, take the fast liner and you will be there in about a half an hour!

Best place ever.
Went there to learn Spanisch in the Spanish language school (escuela de idiomas Nerja). So far, I've been there three times, because it's the perfect place to learn and go on holiday at the same time. Small city with plenty of restaurants, not too expensive. Same with hotels and accomodations. Nightlife like it is in rather small cities... but there is a place called tutti frutti. Various beaches, small and big ones. Interacting with locals is easy if you speak Spanish, if not they'll rather treat you as a tourist - friendly and joking, but distant. All in all - lovely.
PS: don't bring an umbrella, you won't need it :-)

Small touristic place but great to learn Spanish. Close to Malaga.

Where we stayed it was very quiet so if your after a chilling holiday with not much to do this is the place to go.

I would recommend you go to the Cuevos de Nerja. These are caves that are very beautiful and that have been inhabitated during stone age. There are archeological findings such as cave-paintings. And the temperature is very pleasant in the cave, this is a nice place to go when temperature peakes around midday.
