Uppsala is an easy day trip by train from Stockholm. The cathedral is quite striking and appears newer than it actually is. There is a young feel to the place due to the number of university students.

if you wanna see Uppsala in action you have to go there over the 30th of April to the 1st of may- it´s Walborg´s night. The studentsnations celebrate and with them the hole town. With försranningen (funny boatrace on the river), champagne galoppe and party all over the inner city.

Best Uppsala experience: Grand Hotel Hornan on the river - get the room on third floor with the balcony on April 30th for the best seat in town to watch the chaos as the morning champagne and strawberry fueled student boat races go on... Don't miss the champagne gallop at 2pm ;)

nice quiet university town, cosy atmosphere, great if you come from the north and are in a big need of culture after having travelled through all the nature for so long! there are some restaurations of Rune-stones in the park. river runs through the city.
