The best chocolate shop in Laussane is called Blondel and is a tiny shop next to the St Francis church. They sell chocolate by weight, you select the different types and they cut pieces for you. The chocolate is so good that it is worth a trip to Lausanne just for it.

The movenpick ice-cream shop on the shores of the lake is a MUST! The sight of the mountains as a backdrop with the glistening lake and the tidiness that epitimises the swiss culture is a sight I will hold in my mind forever.

Ouchy is located just a few minutes south of Lausanne, in Switzerland. You can get there from Lausanne either by bus, car, foot or metro. It really isn't hard to get there, just follow the road to the lake.
I love Ouchy. It is a great place to take your kids out on a Sunday afternoon for a walk, and let them peddle around their bicycle, or even to skate.
Very pretty little harbour with a large pedestrian area along the lake that extends to the east as far as the Olympic Museum, and further, and to the west goes to Prilly and beyond. There's a public swimming pool there, and in front of it is a huge parking space where there's a fairground once a year.
Ouchy is very scenic. The promenade is bordered with trees and flowers. The main square, as you come out of the metro station, has a small cafe/sandwich shop, with tables outside.
I remember going to Ouchy to attend the Beer Festival, but I'm not sure it still takes place there.

The capital city of the Canton (State) of Vaud. A lot of nice restaurants. The city slopes on a hill going down to Lake Geneva. Many nice place in Ouchy. Visit the Olympic Museum.

Lausanne is near Geneva (east) and it is worth visiting for its old town, its pleasantly proportioned Gothic cathedral and, most of all, for sports enthusiasts, the Olympic Museum. Lausanne is the city where the International Olympic Committee is headquartered. If you are in the mood to splurge, stay at the Royal Savoy, a spectacular hotel with its own park and three restuarants. For more reasonable accommodations that we opted for, the Hotel au Lac is a fine choice. The exterior looks like something out of a gingerbread house handbook, but the interior is modern! Go figure! Their restaurant is very good. Highly recommended!
