Go on a boat ride on Lake Zurich. It's worth it. Bike riding is also a great way to see the city and the lake. For cheap but clean places to stay, try a hostel; if that's not your cup of tea, hotels abound. There are also cheap yet clean campgrounds where one can pitch a tent and "rough it out". There's tons of shopping, food, chocolate, history, a huge weekly market at the main train station, etc. etc. etc. I love it and can't wait to go back.

If you get hungry while visiting Zurich I recommend the Zeughaus Keller. It is by Paradeplatz, in the old town next to the Bahnhofstrasse. The building is an old armory, and they have very colorfull decoration. Food is good and prices are OK. You might be seated at a common table if you are alone.

Go have a real Zurich Dinner @ Zeughauskeller ! You're gonna love it ! It's THE Zurich place to eat... great food, great portions, great value ! :)

it's a cliché but go for chocolate. even international concerns's (like Nestle or so) is better than somewhere else.

when in zurich defenitely try a bretzl from one of the bretzlkönigstalls. they look like the small hard snacks usually called pretzel but they are bigger and softer, you can get them in all sorts of ways. check 'em out!!! :)
