In Taipei we stayed at the Riviera Hotel. It was very nice, they offer a free shuttle bus to the 101 shopping center and they have pamphlets with tour groups that will take you almost anywhere you want to go for a good price. Tours can be a day trip up to a week. Excellent for the price and they take care of everything! Also, a great way to meet other travellers.

Caesar park hotel in Kenting was great place to stay in.

Grand Farmosa hotel can be seen from approaching plane, it ia a giant, and an all in one city in the city!

never go into a (noble) hotel just for a drink or a dinner. the hotel management is quite arrogant. if you not stay at least one night, you will most likely not be served. thats what happened to me at least.

If you visit Kaohsiung I recommend staying at the Kindness Hotel No. 290, Zhong Hua 4 Rd. Qian Jin District. The staff is super friendly, the complimentary breakfast is superb, and the complimentary amenities are amazing!
