the islands off krabi are some of my favorite spots in this world. ko lanta, railey beach etc, the best for diving, relaxing, rock climbing. and i love the food, the people are super friendly, its almost too good to be true!

Bring towels (of course) and make sure you have small change for the little boats.... Go snorkling

For laid back, hippish lifestyle, head to Tonsai beach. From Krabi/Ao Nang - take the longtail boat. Accommodation is cheaper here than on mainland or on Railey East/West. More for budget travellers who don't mind back to basics living at less than 200-300 Bht during low season and 500 Bht only during high season. Check out the climbing activities on the beach or sign up with a climbing school to experience real rock climbing. ;D

In Krabitown there is small shopping center "Vogue".

Make sure you catch the long tail over to Railay beach.

Rayavadee Resort is worth it. Rebuilt after the Tsunami, splurge on the pool villas. Best rock climbing in the world.

Krabi is a nice place but the best thing is that it is where you get a boat to Railey.

One of the top five rock climbing destinations in the world!

Great jump off point to visit mangrove swamps around Phang Nga.

Although Krabi is secluded, I had a much better time than in Phuket Some advantages over Phuket for myself: It is less touristy, nobody pushes you to buy things. Surrounded by mountains, palm trees, and the beach. Very close to Ao Nang Islands- chicken island, etc for some snorkelling/boating
Easier to get to Phi Phi islands as well.
