Buy cut fruit on the beach! Take a mini-bus to one of the newer malls near Kata beach, where you can uy things such as new glasses and clothes with quality for a low price.

get out fast and head for tonsai... dont buy expressen or aftonbladet

Whilst you will get a lot of cheaper bargains in Bangkok rather than Phuket. DVD's I found were a better price in Phuket and they took the time to show which were DVD copies as opposed to cinema-camera copies.

Stay away from Patong Beach, it's a tourist trap! Way too expensive and way too crowded! Try checking out Karon instead. The beach is just as beautiful and good little cheap reastaurants are a plenty.

Rawai at the most Southern End of Phuket is great, I stayed away from the overpopulated tourist beaches and mostly cruised around this area.

Enjoy a massage on the beach.... a great thai meal meal up in the hills surrounded by monkeys...risk a scooter ride(a little safer here than in bankok) Hire your own even, or a little jeep to explore the island. Barter hard....they love it!

Kathu - small village in center of island, quiet and cheap place to stay. Close to wakeboarding lake and golf course.
