Sousse, Central Tunisia, Tunisia dont be afraid to haggle with the locals in the souk, you can grab yourself a bargain plus have a great laugh.tunisians are very hospitable and friendly people. Good tip? (+1) El Jem, Central Tunisia, Tunisia El Jem! Le détour qui s'impose entre Kairouan, Sfax, et Sousse. Good tip? (+1) Sfax, Central Tunisia, Tunisia Things to do:
_ visit one of the most beautiful, authentic and... less touristic old medina and market in Tunisia
_ take a short trip by ferry to the peaceful islands of Kerkennah, rent a bungalow in Sidi-Fredj and smoke a shisha with friends late on the beach of Remla
_ enjoy a night in a dirty and cheap hotel of the medina, hearing the calls of the numerous muezzins
People in Sfax will be astonished to see strangers in their industrial town. They're not as "hospitable" as those of touristic places... but more authentic. Good tip?
Good tip? (+1) Hammam Sousse, Central Tunisia, Tunisia This is a very basic city. Not really for tourists. This is where Tunisians live and we stayed here with our friend. It's easy to get lost in the twisty, narrow streets. But once you know your way around,it's very interesting and the tunisians make you feel at home.
We made lots of friends here and were welcomed into lots of homes, even though there was a language barrier as we speak little arabic or french. This didn't seem to matter though and we got by on sign language. Good tip? (0) Kairouan, Central Tunisia, Tunisia Kairouan is an easy day trip from Monastir or Sousse. The Mosque is the highlight of the town, one of the oldest in the Muslim world and around 1,200 years old. Good tip? (0) El Jem, Central Tunisia, Tunisia I've seen quite a few spectacular Roman sites, but this one probably tops the lot. The Colosseum is really impressive and unlike the one in Rome it still has the floor! Good tip? (0) Monastir, Central Tunisia, Tunisia I only visited Monastir as I wanted to see where they'd film Life of Brian. Nice little town though, and the fort is rather nice. Not much to keep you here for more than a day though. Good tip? (0) Sousse, Central Tunisia, Tunisia I used Sousse as a base whilst exploring other towns in the area and thought it was great. There's some good accommodation here and the old city walls and the souq are pretty cool. Its easy to do day trips of to Monastir, Kairoun and El Jem from here. Good tip? (0) Kairouan, Central Tunisia, Tunisia Kairouan is one of the most beautiful cities of Tunisia. It's got an ancient mosque and the word "caravan" stems from the town's name. Famous for travel, architecture, a dam and the mosque said to house hairs from the beard of Mohammed the Prophet. Good tip? (0) |
