Sad city, but having a nice shopping centre (Shire's). The general impression is rather depressing. The terraced architecture of the city is quite depressing...

Used to be one of the "posh" suberbs of leicester. Very close to the Racecoarse for those that like a flutter. Plenty of shops to give you the towny feel.

My second home in England I went by chance. After a bad experience at work I needed a break, first I visited my friend in Tangier, and one week after I decided to go to England.

First I phoned a friend from Uni (Sandra) but I was not in mood for being a nanny, childs are great for their mothers LOL, So I decided to phone a friend from Bilbao from my childhood, Nuria, and she said, come no prob.... I booked the flight and 3 days after the conversation I arrived to Leicester.

I went for a month with an open ticket, but in two weeks I got a job with British Gas and I decided to stay all summer.

Then I decided to stay until Christmas to get the Advance certificate, and in September I got the chance to enrol university, so I stayed a year.

After a year I decided to do the Hons of the degree.... so finally I stayed two years.

I still consider England my second home. England gave me chance that my own country did not give to me ...

And I meet great people over there ... Some I had been in touch through the years, some of them I have re-meet here on facebook, others you loose contact through life...

We came here for official visit, we`re 80 personnels of 3 diff. schools in Norway. I was amazed how the locals in this place live harmoniously together. Liecester is the place where the majority of the population are foriegners. The local gov`t here has a tremendous challenge to make the place maintain the prosperiy aside from enjoying peace and harmony among multicultural locals. It`s very interesting ! i admired the people because they`re positive, enthusiastic to cooperate w/ the gov`t to achieve peacefulness. They`re willing to live harmoniously side by side regardless of their religion, race, and culture. We visited various primary schools, how educt`l system differs from ours in Norway. Most of all we had forums, sharing ideas, exchanging views etc. We learned from each other. Very rewarding experienced to be in this place. Of course we didn`t forget shopping! it`s fun... got the chance also visiting their nice places, a memorable one.

Tipping is not expected in the UK, in the way it is in the United States or Canada, but is much appreciated.
