The English are proud of the relative safety of their capital and this is in no way incorrect. The vast majority of crimes in London are pick-pocketing and purse snatching, so guys put your wallet in your front pants pocket, not in you back pocket or your coat. And ladies keep your cell, transportation card, and a bit of money in your pockets, so if you purse is taken you can call the bobbies and still get back to your place. Also with the purse make sure it zips and keep the purse angled in front of you with the zip in front. Oh, and look after your coat. People can steal those too, especially if you put it on the back of your chair.

Fantastic place for tourists, not so good if you live there. Transport is fantastic, although expensive and really really busy, but as a major city, what more could you ask for.

If you want to go out in the evenings, you have to be 18 yrs old to get into a bar, and 21 to drik something. smoking isnt allowed at any public place, just on the street and in corners where it's allowed local people are very funny, especially when they are a bit drunk. they love to talk to strangers and are very nice...

When asking for directions make sure that you reverse everything that you are told. When they say go right take a left, if they say that it is one direction go the other.

Though the transport system or network in london is rather good, making many places accessible, there's this annoyance (associated with the buses) that I would like to share with you: The bus driver will just terminate at a bus stop along his route whenever he likes! Which means the passengers have to alight to wait for another bus plus have to pay for addtional fare! To make things worse, the bus driver usually stops and keeps quiet (expecting all the passengers on board to know that the bus is no longer on service) at that particular bus stop that he has "chosen to terminate". It is only after , maybe, 5 to 10min when he sees no response (of alighting) from the passengers that he turns his head around to signal us to alight. Though I have only stayed in London for only a couple of days, I have actually met this problem twice!

watch out for pickpockets, I caught one trying to get us on the london bridge, these guys work in groups, 2 guys tried to come between us like if they were in a hurry and the 3rd was acting like he needed to pass, best thing to do is keep only the money you need for the day and store everything else in hotel safe,
