Weymouth, England, United Kingdom
One of the most charming and generally less spoiled British seaside towns. I recommend the costal walk that starts from the car park to the south east of the town through Durlston park. There is a lovely cafe near the large globe which is about twenty minutes walk.

Nice beaches in the summer, although gravel, not sand.  Great kid's aquarium there as well.

Mallams at the Quay We ate there twice, because it was very fine. A phantastic place to eat and drink.

Okay, first of all, don't get put off by all the road works. It will get better. Weymouth and Portland are right at the heart of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. Road links have been recently tinkered with and there is a decent rail service to the town. There are many local attractions and plenty of hotels and guest houses. Weymouth beach is a popular attraction as is Portland Bill on nearby Portland.
