If you're bummin your way through the states this is suprisingly a good place to visit. Get to venice beach and you'll find allot of strange people but also other travelers. If you go to the far northern or southern ends of the beach you can sleep there without being disturbed. There are locations throught venice where you can eat for free at least twice day, free showers in the morning under the santa monica pier (good spot to meet people already living there to find out about meals). You can stay there indefinitely without spending a dime. Oh and i think it's every saturday night, although it might be sunday there's a huge drum circle about 2 hours before sunset right on the beach.

uhmmm... where to start... universal studios is aight... good deals there... i recommend buying the all you can eat pass for $19.99 also... theres a lot night life stuff... my sister loved going to the underground hip hop scene... Hollywood... obviously good shopping on rodeo drive... wide acceptance for gay and lesbians...  plenty of restaurants with a variety of cuisines and great tastes... traffic (eeeeeewwwww) avoid at all costs!

I would recommend the obvious one's such as Hollywood Walk Of Fame, The Kodak Theatre, if you like old school movie glamour Hollywood 'MaxFactor' Museum- these are all within walking distance of each other. Santa Monica is a must- great for dining- I can recommend the Lobster for lovely seafood, and the fashion stores are just divine- some major brands are cheaper than U.K. Rodeo Drive is as good as it looks in mags/television. If you want to see Art/Exhibitions visit J.Paul Getty Museum- I personally found it boring! Film and Television Studio Tours was ok. Hire a Bicycle and race along Venice Beach- ain't nothing like it!! For the Kid in you take a trip to Universal Studios, one or two good rides-great for children. I used the Metro Underground Service which was efficient and carriages were clean.Most importantly I didn't feel out of place or threatened. Guys do try to get you to buy things like CD's etc along the Hollywood strip- just politely tell them ur not interested and they'll leave you alone- don't banter with them or lead them on as such unless you are purchasing. Last but not least I would recommend Car Hire as unfortunatley not all these attractions/places are in walking distance. The Travel Guide booklets have great maps for areas and roads-I found these very accurate- so grab one and have a great time!

Ah... the best weather in the world .... if you wanna know why you got to ask me... hehe - You could do anything in the world there...tell me some that you think that you cant do ... and ill prove you wrong

nice place to visit you have to rent a car no matter what avoid East LA food is healthy and good (in general) weather is usually very nice, rains little - it's quite dry, chilly at night don't let clouds fool you, it's smog, so go to the beach anyway. Beverly Hills and Westwood are my favorite areas

Don't go to Los Angeles. It will only make you sad.

LA's so big, you will need a car, for sure ! Santa Monica's good place for nightlife. Haven't been to Hollywood. Walk of fame sucks !

Don't breathe the dirty air!!

Not the sort of place where you want to leave your hotel. Totally not safe at nighttime. There is a reason why it is a rap song favorite- it is ghetto. Where we stayed was a posh hotel- with a strip club and filthy McDonalds across the street a bum who followed us back to our hotel when we did try to get out for a few minutes. Good because it is close to LAX but bad in every other respect.
