DO NOT skip downtown. Downtown LA used to be a place to avoid. Many people still do. Don't be one of them. There is a nice Little Tokyo area with, of course, numerous Japanese restaurants. If you are a photographer, the light playing off the downtown skyscrapers is awesome and, naturally, who can resist the quirky curves of the new Disney Concert Hall? But one of the hidden gems is the Ambassador Hotel. It lives again in all its former splendor and a stroll down its hushed hallways reveals a host of photographs ducomenting that this was once the venue for the Oscars. You will have fun poring over the full-room photographs jam-packed with celebrities. Who made up that seating chart? A logistics nightmare, for sure! The restaurant is pricey but breakfast there is a special treat and won't bust your budget completely.

Los Angeles is the first place I have been in the US. And I met my American grandparents there who are really kind to me! I will never forget this place although I do not like it very much! But the Disneyland and the Universal Studio are my favourite!!!

Definately bring sunscree, the sun is really strong! Santa Monica Beach (Baywatch), Beverly Hills, The Hollywood Sign, Walk of fame... can all be done by tourist bus (with blinded windshields!) Great to see what you've always seen on tv until now

Los Angeles is a metropolitan area, with plenty of things to do for many people of different races and cultures. It can get very expensive in many sections including Hollywood, and it's surrounding areas. Food, gifts, and novelties can cost up to 50% more than what your used to depending on where you live. So be sure you save up before making the trip.
