for aussis travellers heading to usa. first thing to remember is their scale of rating for hotels is very different to aus hotels.. a 4 star hotel their is about a 1 here. as in we stayed at a so called 4 star resort right near disneyland.. and were supposed to have a continental breakfast.. it ended up being 1 coffee and 1 iced donut that had to be colelcted from front office. they dont have bar fridges in most hotels and u have to get ice. some hotels are not very helpful. so get plenty of advice and choose wisely. for attractions dont miss Knotts Berry Farm its a great day out adn to be honest preferred it to over commercialised Disneyland.
women do NOT travel alone. and dont flash your money around alot. i was told that if i need to get money out of my wallet to go into toilets and do it. but thats abit over the top. Check out some of the larger malls such as i think its called South Mall in Los Angelos. its huge and lots of good bargins. If u have a multi day pass to Disneyland try and do all the other sightseeing first and leave Disneyland to last.. that way if you want to go back and pick up things you can. WE had no coffee or tea even toast making facilities in room.. couldnt even keep milk in with us as nothing to store it in as no bar fridge.. so very ahrd to make simple things to eat.. eating out all the time is costly.. try not eat before or after going to theme parks as the food there is over the top in prices.. for something different try Medievil times it was a fantastic night of knights in shinging armour.. jousting and falconry.

It'S A great city to do shopping. Macy's is by far almost always the cheapest place to go shopping, look for the sales. The beach is fantastic when it's sunny, there are a lot of good beaches in Malibu. Go eat at Cheesecake factory in Marina Del rey, it's so pretty and the food is delicious. I've stayed at Mariott in Downtown which is pretty good, but located a bit too far from beverly hills in my opinion. The Beverly hilton is fantastic, and is cheap sometimes.

If you're bummin your way through the states this is suprisingly a good place to visit. Get to venice beach and you'll find allot of strange people but also other travelers. If you go to the far northern or southern ends of the beach you can sleep there without being disturbed. There are locations throught venice where you can eat for free at least twice day, free showers in the morning under the santa monica pier (good spot to meet people already living there to find out about meals). You can stay there indefinitely without spending a dime. Oh and i think it's every saturday night, although it might be sunday there's a huge drum circle about 2 hours before sunset right on the beach.

Book a hotel close to where you'll be spending most of your time, becaause travelling on the highway can get very busy.

Ah... the best weather in the world .... if you wanna know why you got to ask me... hehe - You could do anything in the world there...tell me some that you think that you cant do ... and ill prove you wrong

LA and surrounding areas are great places to visit. Of course you're bound to have a star sighting somewhere. Check out the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Beverly Hills.

When in Rome... oh wait that should be When in L.A. ... If you plan on hitting the Hills, but you don't want to look like a poor S.O.B. buy something small, and walk around with the bag. See if they can put it in alarger bag and walk around with that. It sounds cheesy and stupid, but who wants to look like a tourist while walking around Beverly Hills? Hands not full, but with a little something will make you fit in a little more. Amazing Mexican food in LA... 2nd only to Mexico itself! Mexican / Latin fusion with Asian is AMAZING!!! Highly recommend trying it! Great street shows around Chinese theater. If you are lucky you may catch a B-Boy crew. Reminded me of NYC back in the day. Sex Museum is a waste of money. Nightlife is amazing, with a nice varied mix of it all. Not only are there Hip-Hop clubs a plenty, but there are also some of the best Rock, Latin, Goth, Techno, even country clubs in the LA area.

LA's so big, you will need a car, for sure ! Santa Monica's good place for nightlife. Haven't been to Hollywood. Walk of fame sucks !

hilton hotel was the coolest hotel. when you are in LA with a bunch of friends hire a limo its cheap between y'all and its the best way to see the city.
