Los Angeles, California, United States for aussis travellers heading to usa. first thing to remember is their scale of rating for hotels is very different to aus hotels.. a 4 star hotel their is about a 1 here. as in we stayed at a so called 4 star resort right near disneyland.. and were supposed to have a continental breakfast.. it ended up being 1 coffee and 1 iced donut that had to be colelcted from front office. they dont have bar fridges in most hotels and u have to get ice. some hotels are not very helpful. so get plenty of advice and choose wisely. for attractions dont miss Knotts Berry Farm its a great day out adn to be honest preferred it to over commercialised Disneyland. women do NOT travel alone. and dont flash your money around alot. i was told that if i need to get money out of my wallet to go into toilets and do it. but thats abit over the top. Check out some of the larger malls such as i think its called South Mall in Los Angelos. its huge and lots of good bargins. If u have a multi day pass to Disneyland try and do all the other sightseeing first and leave Disneyland to last.. that way if you want to go back and pick up things you can. WE had no coffee or tea even toast making facilities in room.. couldnt even keep milk in with us as nothing to store it in as no bar fridge.. so very ahrd to make simple things to eat.. eating out all the time is costly.. try not eat before or after going to theme parks as the food there is over the top in prices.. for something different try Medievil times it was a fantastic night of knights in shinging armour.. jousting and falconry. (0) Los Angeles, California, United States The Queen of the U.S. I recommend everybody live there for at least the duration of 4 months. I would say more, but I know that after that long you would stay much longer. I found work in doing background Extra work, Bull Operator at Saddle Ranch on Sunset Blvd. I did market research For Neilsen NRG, and tested video games for THQ and EA. Those are verry good jobs that paid well enough to survive and sometimes a little more, and they were also easily acquired, cause I knew the rite people I guess. I lived there for some of 2005 and most of 2006-2008, and I must say it was quite the ride. Not all of it was easy, as a matter-of-fact it was nearly hell, all of the time for me. Let's see.... I was homeless for part of my third time out there. I begged for change and lived on the streets for a few months. I walked up and down Sunset Blvd. with my friend Anthony and he showed me everything about the city that he knew. He was 18 and I was 20. We had some good times he and I. We went to parties in the Hollywood hills together cause occasionally some rich hot-shot would see us begging and feel bad, we're just kid's rite, and we don't look to be homeless at all. So we would pull that angle and sometimes get some free booze, and try for a place to crash. Latter on I lucked out and found a real job. Hosting at Saddle Ranch Shop house and the rest is history! My favorite city! Good tip? (0) Los Angeles, California, United States I recommend carrying only credit cards or traveler's checks, avoid crowded area's, leave very early to avoid Massive Traffic that is notrious in L.A., Try to visit the James Dean Memorial, Dodger Stadium and watch a Mlb Dodgers Baseball Game, Buy tickets from fellow season ticket holders outside the stadium or on craigslist to save on the prices, buy snacks and take them inside the stadium to save even more, visit the Los Angeles Museum of Arts, Visit the Staples Center for a Lakers Game during the regular season between oct. 30-april 2nd and the nba playoffs from april-june, Watch The USC Trojans college ncaa football ream at the la colliseum on thursdays or saturdays, try to visit downtown, the beaches and etc!! Try to have a friend with you at all times and use taxi's downtown ! Good tip? (0) Los Angeles, California, United States L.A. Is the biggest City I have ever lived in. There are about 9 million people. If you can't find something to do there you must be dead. This is the only city I know of where you can go skiing and to the beah in the same day. Good tip?
