Close to Joshua Tree National Park. There is a fee to stay overnight in the park. Joshua Tree has great landscapes, rock formations, and rock climbing and biking opportunities.

PGA West Golf Course. Quite difficult golf courses, but perfectly integrated into landscape. Beautiful views, nice greens, especially Alcatraz-whole (green completely on a small island in the middle of a lake).
