If you're visiting LA, make sure you send time driving down the coast from Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes... It's amazing just sitting and watching the sunset.

If you are staying in Los Angeles for an extened period of time, BUY A THOMAS GUIDE. You can find any real address on any street in any part of LA with realitive ease, and it never runs out of batteries at 2:00 am, in the middle of Downtown...

Avoid the rush hour times when possible. 8-11 am, 4-7pm. Driving during these times between any two locations will take 1 to 3 hours.

Don't walk alone at night!

Not a city for walking, we walked on the first day and everyone thought we were crazy. Good system of buses only generally used by the old and poor, streets are very long so don't be deceived by the map!

L.A. is smoggy and full of fake people. There are so many more beautiful and interesting places in California!!

Universal Studios is a must see. Absolutely brilliant!! LA a bit of a let down

Los Angeles is a huge city, but if you stay on the 501 freeway you will come to the sunset boulevard turnoff onto sunset boulevard rd, carry on down here onto Vine St, this will take you to the Hollywood Hills.
