The little town of Los Olivos has several interesting art galleries and a lovely restaurant owned by Fess Parker.

Solvang's history is rooted in the Danish tradition and it is a major tourist destination. Located between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo, I've found it is a good place to stop heading up or down the coast. Lots of traveler friendly places to eat and home to Danish Days each fall.

Solvang is a Danish-style city-- great food, fun shops. Streets roll up in the evenings.

En lille dansk perle i alt det amerikanske - som dog desværre er lidt amerikaniseret, og lidt hollandseret også, med gammeldags møller. Men meget hyggelig. Behøves kun at opleves som drive through, ikke som overnatning.

I was so excited to head to the "Danish Capital of the US"...funny when i think of Denmark i don't usually picture Mexican restaurants. So much hype for such a disappointing place. Skip Solvang!

This quaint village in California wine country (there are more than 70 wineries in the area!), is a replica of a Danish Village and although there are no longer many Danes living there, it is a picturesque place that manages to still capture the feeling and the look of an old Danish village. The town featured prominently in the movie Sideways . If you are staying overnight, try the Solvang Gardens Lodge on Alisinal Road; it is a truly unique place with a good restaurant.

Anthony Hopkins can sometimes be seen on the streets here as his ranch is nearby. I bumped into him in Jedlicka's Saddlery, a tack shop on the main street!
