If you're in a shopping mood, there is the South Coast Plaza mall. It is located right off of the 405 freeway.

I recommend going to jack in the box and having a tripple double bacon burger. A mouth orgy if ever seen.

Anaheim has Disneyland! Disneyland does it's fireworks every night at 9:30pm, so if you park at West Street and Ball, you can get a great shot at the firework show and not even go into the park. Actually, I think that spot outside the park is closer than for the people inside.

The place to go for Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. There is a lot of restaurants, including a Hard Rock to eat at outside of the main propery of Disney. A great place to bring the family.

Don't buy gas near Disneyland...if you drive a few blocks away, it's at least 20 cents cheaper.

The fist Mickey circus! The first Hollywood circus!

Staying in Irvine, dining is best along the coast, Dana Point and that stretch, especially the mexican restaurants.
