try to drink plenty of water while in vail. the high altitude takes a lot out of you. try to take it easy the first day or so you are there, to get aclimated to the altitude.

There are some motels near Vail, not as expensive. You will be staying outside the town but saving at least $200 per night.

Great skii resort! The majority of the slopes are groomed, and there is a lot of room for skiing/snowboarding, but the area is often a little crowded. Also, eating and lodging are all a little pricy. Probably not the best choice for college students.

Vail is a great place to ski, but there are no social life in the city. So if you wanna go to a place just to ski in the best tracks ever, Vail is the place!

Vail is a huge ski resort with its own village at the base of the mountain. Unlike Aspen its buildings are copied from the mountain villages in the alps. Its receives a huge amount of new snow and because the base is so high the snow stays longer than other areas. The ticket price might be expensive but the area that can be skied is so huge that skiing everywhere in one day is a challenge.

The Sonnenalp hotel is a great place to stay right in the heart of Vail. It's a little pricey, but worth it. You can choose from a regular room or large suites. All the rooms are impecabbly decorated and have a fire place in the room. Has a very Swiss/German feel to it. Also, check out the pool area in the summer which is beautiful with trees and flowers everywhere. Great place to stay!

Moe's Original BBQ.....Best Alabama style BBQ ever!!! They make their food in the morning and once it's sold out, you're outta luck. Super casual atmosphere. Best ribs and pulled pork. The sides are killer, especially the sweet potato jo-jo's (not always on the menu).
