Lesbian travelers will probably be disappointed in the nation's capital. Although there used to be a few different women's clubs, now there are only a couple of women's nights and one single club. That club is Phase One, in Southeast. Other than that, look for Liquid Ladies (occasionally held at Apex) and try hanging out in the Dupont Circle Starbucks or in Lambda Rising for a family feel.

Best nightlife in Washington State is located in Capitol Hill in Seattle. Capitol Hill has a wonderful athmosphere, cozy cafés and fantastic discos... for gay and not gay ;)

I lived in Washington D.C. before, and I wouldn't mind going back to visit.

DC is a great city to visit. it has a lot of art and obviously historic/political lessons to provide. my favorite is the air and space smithsonian, and there's tons more. i would suggest the library of congress, supreme court etc. for the history enthusiast, DC is an awesome place to visit. DC has also seen a lot of tough gun laws recently to curb gun violence and crime which have helped make it more safe. generally, it is a safe place, within common sense, obviously.
