One could obviously spend months (or years) here, but carve out at least a day for the Hermitage Museum. Some of the most impressive pieces are the malacite urns. Start early in the morning (it is worth it to line-up before opening) so to beat the hoardes.

The beaches are great. Madeira Beach is one beach that you can drink alcohol on legally as long as it's not in glass bottles, and you're 21. If you're on the Southside, avoid 18th Ave. South area unless you want crack or hookers. If you're looking for a great college, check out Eckerd College!

at the clearwater beach you'll find several activities like jetskis, speedboats and so on..

When in St. Pete Beach, check out the Harp and Thistle Pub. A properly authentic Irish pub run by a mother and daughter combo, late of Ireland. The greet you at the door and cram in you in around the small stage. They only have Guiness, Harp, and Bass on tap and you can get some cider by the bottle. That is about it, which is all you need if going to a pub.

The national park camp ground is great, but fills up really fast. Make a reservation as early as possible - months in advance if you can. If you can't, then do what I did and just show up at the gate really early, bat your eyelashes at the ranger and hope he give you a spot.
