If you love books and used book stores Myopic Books in Chicago's Wicker Park neighbourhood is a great place to loose a few hours. They have over 80,000 books, roaming cats and dogs and a laid back atmosphere that encourages browsing. Best of all there isn't a yoga mat or scented candle in sight.

    LuLu's at the Belle Kay

Lulu's specializes in upscale vintage women's clothing, jewelry and accessories. The shop has a very retro feel. Their clothing is in impeccable condition and the prices reflect that. Most of their stock seems to be from the Fifties and they have a nice selection of vintage gowns. It's a beautiful shop, with well conditioned clothing, but a little too pricey in my opinion. The store is so well-appointed that it's a fun place to browse on a Sunday afternoon.

What To Buy: This is one of the great places to shop if you're truly in the market for some exceptional vintage pieces.

What To Pay: They are very expensive, but their merchandise is in excellent condition.

So, while in Chicago, everyone wants to buy at the so well known Magnificent Mile. It's great, it has amazing stores buuuut they are expensive (not all of them but most of them). If you want to buy cheaper, you should go to State Street and there you will find a Finele's Basement, a Nordstrom Rack and some other cheaper stores. You should totally go to Macy's on State Street, the building is totally worth it, and the store is huge!!!!!
