The locals are fond of a particular fish known as the scrod.  I am told that the name means "small cod rescued off dock".  Now I am a lover of fish, especially of the rock cod or California red snapper.  So I had great expectations for the scrod.  It is, I dare say, one of the more unpalatable things to come from the sea not because of a strong flavor, but because of the apparent lack of it.  Why Bostonians would eat a fish such as this baffles me.  It flakes nicely, is a pretty white, and tastes like the white background on this page.  Which is to say that it has no flavor at all, making it a waste of time for the epicure.

EVERYONE MUST GO HERE!! Check out all the witch museums.. the old graveyard where you can see the names of all the witches hung and the man who was pressed to death. Beautiful historic town on the water. Salem Willows nice in the summer time. HALLOWEEN of course is the best time to go

For the best lobster on the planet, go to Roy Moore Lobster Co on Bearskin Neck. It is also pretty cheap..for lobster. ($15 for 1 1/3lb) It is located in a tiny shack that only has the lobsters and a place to cook them. You eat the lobsters overlooking the water on crates in the back.They pump in ocean water daily to a huge fire heated pot. Lobsters are cooked to order in the pot all day, without changing the water, and by the end of the day your lobster is seasoned as it cooks. The locals order their lobsters to be picked up at 5:45 PM after the water is well seasoned. Roy Moore is open seasonally so call to make sure that they are open.

Don't eat the lobster at Legal Seafoods unless you want to get sick!
