Detroit has a bad rep, but things have been getting better in the last few years. A lot of new development and people moving back into the city. There are lots of cultural and social venues in the downtown area.

My Tip: stay away from Detroit!

Tip from a semi-local (just across the river). Applies just as much in broad daylight as at night.

If you find yourself driving in Detroit and you suddenly get lost in a shadey neighbourhood. The Detroit Police urge you to drive through a red light if you need to if "shady" individuals happen to start to approach your car, and trust me, there's no lack of shady people in Detroit.

Stay away from Detroit !!!
