Good way to get here is the Chinatown buses or Vammosebus.com or Boltbus.com. They're very cheap.

New York cabbies know who the tourists are...and they will take advantage...be firm with prices and don't negotiate with them. Ask locals for estimates on cab fares and go from there. Don't be taken advantage of.

we were in New York for a 5 hour stop-over on the way to Mexico City.. if you don't want to sit in the airport for 5 hours, it's enough time for a whistle-stop tour of downtown... we only had time to take a few snaps around the Empire State building and a few other landmarks, grab a pretzel and get a quick peek at NYC, but it beats sitting in the departure lounge! ...
Tourist info will tell you not to bother, but if you're determined and have enough time to allow 1 hour into the city and 1 hour back (as well as a couple of hours there obviously!) then go for it... quite a thrill to see if you make your connecting flight! :p

Although it seems many visiting people are scared of the subway, they are indeed the easiest way to get around in NYC. Buy a $10 card, or if you are taking multiple trips a Day Card! You can also use the metro card to get over to New Jersey via the PATH train as NJ buses do not accept it

When I step a foot in New York I was able to know why of its magic. Those building wow super cool view, the places that I loved the most are: The Statue of Liberty (I cried just by remembering how my relatives did everything to flee Spain to be free from the Francism) Downtown New York superb, magical. New York was one of the greates cities I've been to. Wish I could back again soon!!!

Sunnyside is known for leafy residential streets, pre-war low-rise apartment buildings in art deco brickwork, industrial manufacturing and automotive flavour, and cultural diversity... you'll find mexicans, puerto ricans, vietnamese, chinese, koreans, greeks, italians, irish, and just about everybody else here. The subways RULE, esp. the "Express" ones, but you get to really look around if you take the bus everywhere you go.
