If you are going to be in Oregon in July go to the Oregon Country Fair just outside of Eugene. It's seriously cool/weird!

Eugene, OR is a nice little college town that is home to the University of Oregon. The town is another hippie destination where you can still see people with dreads and VW buses. There is an nice outdoor music venue called the Cuthbert, where many summer concerts are held. You can also see the annual Oregon Country Fair. It is still very Oregon. Don't let the progressive looking seasonal population fool you into thinking that they are Californians.

Not much to see here in Springfield, just the stepchild of larger university-city Eugene to the West. Oh, and the first nationwide famous school shooting happened here in 1997, where Kip Kinkel killed his two parents, went to school and killed to classmates and injured 5 others in a shooting rampage. He's serving 7 life sentences now in Salem, Oregon. Just a little bit of history there for you non-Oregonians.
