It's Gettysburg - what more do I need to say? Make sure you go to the high water mark at sunrise.

When you reach town and sign up for your battlefield tour, you can add three attractions to save money. However, I recommend not going to the Lincoln Train Museum as one of those attractions.

Great Historical attractions. The battle of Gettysburg was fought here during the Civil War. There is a lot of sightseeing and shopping. The Boyd's Bears store is located nearby as well.

I would recomend reading about the battle before going to Gettysburg. The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara is a great book to "start" with. Other than that watch out for the tourist traps.

Buy a driving tour.  It's pretty good and you can go at your own pace.  We went in the summer when it was really hot so the AC in the car really helped.  Not all the busses/tours have AC.

Go downtown to the square to get something to eat, but plan on parking a few blocks away. There are about a dozen nice cafes and restaurants around the square "area". It is very safe area to walk around at night.

This area has a very strong energy about it. You feel immersed in the battles while driving through the battlefields. I highly recommend seeing this region.

Take a Battlefield Tour by bus. you weat headphones and get a lot of history in the area that you might not otherwise get. I think I would do this prior to doing the driving tour. You will see the hospital used in the war, the building where Lincoln stayed the day before the Gettysburg Address was made.
