What can I say about my hometown? Hmm, well to start off, Houston is probably 1 of the worst travel spots one could possibly imagine. Sure, NASA is nearby but to be honest, it is a waste of time and will only hurt your feet. There is not much to do in Houston besides eat. This factors into why we're one of the fattest cities in the whole entire galaxy. Yep, nothing here but humidity, heat, endless chains of restaurants, and streets littered with ugly ugly people and their children who are products of a public school system that tragically fails at producing intellectuals. And naturally, this is where my family decided to settle. I'm not bias, these opinions have been reiterated to me by friends and family that have come to visit only to never come visit again. We literally have nothing to do here. Don't even bother with going to the nearby beach in Galveston. God bless you if you have the guts to swim in the waves of waste known as The Gulf of Mexico. Seaweed and dead jellyfish line the beaches while a wind of sewage smell blows in spontaneously from all directions. Houston is definitely more of a working town than a tourist spot. The houses here are cheap and the weather is unpredictable. Our winters are hot and are summers are completely spent inside. Some pros about living in Houston are cheap housing and that our hordes of mosquitoes are malaria-less (although there was an uprising of the West Nile virus a couple years back). If you want to have that genuine "Texas" feel, don't go to Houston. Most of our population consists of wannabe entrepreneurs that couldn't make it in a legitimate big city and settled for "the bayou city." Oh yeah, I also find it funny that we boast the nickname, "the bayou city," as if it sounded any better than "city of the sewers." Anyways, I think you readers get the point. My advice about traveling to Houston is to travel to Dallas instead.

1. Don't go when it rains a lot. You'll drown
2. Don't go in the summer. It's very humid
3. When you do go, visit the Village. Beautifully thought out communities built with the community in mind.
4. Visit the lakes. They are kept up quite nice down there. Not down town, but just outside, mainly south. Gorgeous!

The public transportation system in Houston is pretty terrible -- seedy driving and congestion can be found in every turn. Unfortunately, since Houston is an unusually spread-out city, a car is necessary to get yourself around town.
