I stayed at a small hotel off of I95 and right around the corner was a Denny's. There was nothing else around there, (south of Richmond) and was easy to find even without a good address.

Buy a car if you really wanna enjoy... public transportation is really scarce.

Head to Shockoe Slip and see if you can find the poetry slam...

If you are visiting and only plan to site-see in the city, public transportation may be of some help to you. If you are travelling beyond the city limits into one of the surrounding counties (ex. Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover, etc.), then you will need to rent a vehicle since the bus system does not conveniently extend to that area.

I live in Canada.. So to me, when i am there it is veryy VERY hot.. public pools are a great thing to visit while there! Bring GOOD sunscreen!

Maymount, careytown, and the Jefferson

Cary Town is the best for a little funky shopping, delicious, cheap restaurants and an all-around well-spent afternoon.

The red dragon tattoo studio there is amazing. IT2 curti got some great work done.

The med evil fair they have there every year is a blast at the common grounds.
