Stay outta Gilpin court, Mosby court, Creighton court, Hillside court, Wickham court, and churchill. Basically anything that ends in court is a no go.

Richmond has a fantastic pub, called Capital Ale House. The selection of beers is larger than I have ever seen, and they have an "ice bar". A must-do for beer snobs.

Maymont Park is a must especially for kids

I hate Virginia but Bush Gardens is a nice place to see in Richmond.

When I was here, I was warned that there are some areas that are not safe for a white person to tread: basically, one wouldn't come out alive from some places if they had white skin. But the odd restaurants are awesome, and despite the atmosphere, there are some things worth being around, such as the mall although Fredericksburg is the place I would refer passing through if you so happen to be in Virginia.

When in Richmond, the Children's Museum is a must see. There is plenty to do for the kids and the it's relatively cheap.

There are lots of great festivals in the fall months in Richmond -- Folk Festival, Armenian Festival, Festival of India, Oktoberfest, etc.
