Sairam-Su valley is some 120 km from Shymkent. It takes a couple of hours drive to get there first through several small vilages and towns and the last 18 km of a dirt road to come up the valley to come to the close-up of the Siaram-Su river source. the endof the dirt road hits several medows surrounded by birch trees next to river and giniper forest on slopes. The medows are at 1200-1500 m asl. Surrounding ridges and mountain tops are 3000-3800 with the highest peak of the Southern Kazakhstan of 4300 m peak Sairam.
The place is a picturesque site. One could come over for fun for a day trip and walk up to the lakes (2-3 hrs relaxed pace) or stick around camping for a week or two to climb up the peaks around the valley. Typically each peak takes a day or so. The place is used by local alpinism communities to raise experience of newcomers as a lot of peaks are available at a short range. However, experienced guys will find a lot of challenge as well.
Of course when going camping here one has to be prepared for independent stay in tents as no infrustructure is available apart from ice cold river soft grass and a lot of sun.
