Page 1 of 10 My Reviews![]() Toronto, Ontario, Canada ![]() Added Mar 17, 2012 Formerly the site of an old distillery, now a nice pedestrian area with some really nice shops, art galleries and restaurants. Check out the oyster bar for a really good meal ![]() Boracay, Visayas Islands, Philippines ![]() Added Feb 27, 2012 THE beach at Boracay. beautiful and not nearly as crowded as I feared. There are better beaches in the Phillipines, but this one is pretty good ![]() Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China ![]() Added Feb 15, 2012 One of rhw highlights of modern Shanghai. definitely worth a visit for a few hours and best to come both in the day and at nights. ![]() Zhujiajiao, Shanghai Province, China ![]() Added Feb 11, 2012 Great place to visit for a half day tour from Shanghai. Get the all=in-one ticket. It's the perfect way to see all of the town's sites ![]() Toronto, Ontario, Canada ![]() Added Jan 25, 2012 Pretty good shopping mall in downtown Toronto. Nothing unmissable, but convenient with lots of shops and some good food ![]() Kyyiv, Central Ukraine, Ukraine ![]() Added Nov 9, 2011 In the heart of Kyyiv, but really not what stands out on a trip. You are certain to see it, but there really isn't that much to spend a lot of time at, unless you feel like doing some shopping in the underground mall.... ![]() Miami, Florida, United States ![]() Added Oct 24, 2011 Short drive from downtown Miami. This is a nice little island with a park, clean beach and mountain bike trails. Don't go out of your way for it, but it is worth a stop. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Oct 21, 2011 Commonly known as the oldest square in Paris, Place des Vosges is surrounded by some lovely buildings with a nice fountain in the middle. Worth stopping by to check out, but don't go out of your way. There are so many other beautiful Paris sights ![]() Puerto Iguazu, Litoral Region, Argentina ![]() Added Oct 21, 2011 Absolutely breathtaking and my advice would be to stay at the Sheraton by the falls. It's pricey, but totally worth it for the access to the site ![]() Moscow, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Oct 21, 2011 This beautiful monastery is located in downtown Moscow, yet off the beaten track. It is definitely worth a visit. ![]() Goreme, Central Anatolia, Turkey ![]() Added Oct 21, 2011 Fascinating place to see. Take your time touring here and be sure to check out the dark church. Definitely a highlight of any Cappadocia trip ![]() Saint Petersburg, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Oct 20, 2011 Beautiful church, decorated with traditional Russian mosaics. Built to commemorate the assassination of tsar Alexander II, this church was under renovation for the longest time, but the results are worth it. A must-see in St. Petersburg ![]() Venice, Veneto Region, Italy ![]() Added Oct 15, 2011 A classic place to start exploring Venice, this site is absolutely beautiful, but of course always crowded. ![]() San Francisco, California, United States ![]() Added Oct 14, 2011 Worth a look and the chocolate is pretty good, but there really isn't all that much to do there, so don't plan on spending too much time ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 14, 2011 London's theater district - the Broadway of the UK. Check it out if you want to see a play or musical. ![]() Amman, Amman Region, Jordan ![]() Added Oct 14, 2011 Some cool sights and markets, but not as interesting as the smaller towns of Jordan. Worth checking out the museum and the citadel. ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Sep 30, 2011 The clock on old town square is beautiful at any time, but be sure to come on the hour to see the procession of the disciples. ![]() Geneve, Lake Geneva Region, Switzerland ![]() Added Sep 17, 2011 I found Geneva kind of bland in general, but this is the nicest part of town. The lake is beautiful and the view of the mountains is breathtaking. But there are better places to enjoy both, like Montreaux ![]() Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada ![]() Added Sep 10, 2011 The view of the falls from the Canadian side is certainly much more spectacular than from the US and definitely worth checking out if you make it out to the US side first ![]() Jaipur, Rajasthan, India ![]() Added Sep 5, 2011 Amazing place and the highlight of my Jaipur trip. Try to get there early to avoid waiting in line for the elephant ride and to be able to take pictures of the place before it is overrun with tourists. If you tip the custodial staff they will guide you to some places with good photo ops. ![]() Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Sep 4, 2011 Definitely a must-see for any Van Gogh or impressionist arts fan. Admission is fairly pricy and it's not a very big museum, but still well worth a visit if you have any interest in art. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Sep 3, 2011 Not a must-visit place in the city if your time is limited, unless you are into military planes and aircraft carriers. In that case it's a great way to spend half a day. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Sep 3, 2011 Beautiful square and fountain right in the heart of Paris and you can walk anywhere in the city from here. Nice fountains and Egyption obelisk from Luxor. ![]() Istanbul, Marmara Region, Turkey ![]() Added Sep 2, 2011 A must-see place in old Istanbul, this is a beautiful mosque both on on the outside and inside and definitely worth spending time in. It is right acrross the square from the Aya Sophia and walking distance from Topkapi Palace and Basilica Cisterna, so you can do most of the key sites in old Istanbul in an afternoon ![]() Bruges, West-Vlaanderen Region, Belgium ![]() Added Sep 2, 2011 Nice square in the heart of Bruge and there are some great sites within minutes of it. Might make sense to go around Chrstimas for the fairs and the Ice Sculpture festival, but Bruges is nice any time of year ![]() Saint Petersburg, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Sep 2, 2011 Also known as the Winter Palace and located in the heart of St Petersburg, this is a must visit on any trip to Russia's former capital. It's one of the greatest museums of the world. It is huge, so allow several trips if you want to see it all. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Sep 1, 2011 Not a bad way to spend the summer day. It's cheesy and the rides are old, especially the rickety-looking roller coaster, but that's just part of this place's charm. It's a long subway ride from Manhattan, but if you like amusement parks with character, it is definitely worth the trip. ![]() Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China ![]() Added Sep 1, 2011 Worth checking out for the view, because you get to see more than the glitter of new Shanghai from up there. There is also a great dumpling restaurant you can visit on your way out. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Aug 27, 2011 A boat ride along the Seine is a tourist cliche, but it is worth doing to get a different perspective of the city and get yourself oriented when you start exploring the city. ![]() Bern, Mittelland Region, Switzerland ![]() Added Aug 27, 2011 No point going out of your way to see this. It is literally a pit with some bears in it, but if you happen to pass by it, it's wortha stop for a few minutes. The bears look pretty well-fed and well-groomed. ![]() Moscow, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Aug 21, 2011 There are lots of copies in this museum's collection, but that's OK, because there are some terrific originals here as well from the Renaissance to 20th century art. The Impressionist coilection is small, but definitely worth checking out ![]() Orlando, Florida, United States ![]() Added Aug 20, 2011 Didn't really care for this place. It's probably great for kids, but if you're older than 11 there really isn't all that much to do here. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Aug 20, 2011 Not really that much to do here. You can take the tour of NYSE and get your picture taken with the bull statue but that's about it. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Aug 20, 2011 An iconic walk in New York City. You don't really need to go all the way to Brooklyn for a terrific view of the Manhattan skyline, but it is a pretty nice walk. A great thing to do when in New York ![]() Cairo, Cairo & Surrounding Region, Egypt ![]() Added Aug 20, 2011 Still one of the top must see sites on the planet, the pyramids of Giza are an incredible sight. Just beware of the countless touts that will try to get money out of you for picture taking or a camel ride. Rumour is getting on a camel is free, but getting back to the pyramids can cost you dearly :) ![]() Agra, North-Central Plains, India ![]() Added Aug 17, 2011 Truly incredible. Believe all the hype you hear about this place. It is as breathtaking as the stories and photos would have you believe. Give yourself some time to walk around the gardens as the complex is pretty big. And be careful when you come. The Taj is closed on Fridays. Also, in the winter, while it's cooler, there is a substantial risk of fog and it would certainly be a shame to come to Agra and not see anything because of the weather. ![]() Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Aug 10, 2011 Nice scenery and a good place to start a walk to Coal Harbour around Stanley Park. In the summer there is a nice open air swimming pool open in the park near English Bay ![]() Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Aug 10, 2011 Pretty good shopping mall in downtown Vancouver. The H&M is here, as is the Apple store, among many other stores. ![]() Las Vegas, Nevada, United States ![]() Added Aug 9, 2011 No point in doing this whatsoever even for free, but even less so for 25 dollars. I think the chlorine sstench should be enough to turn you off. ![]() Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina ![]() Added Aug 9, 2011 A cool square in downtown Buenos Aires! YOu can chill at in the shade of some beautiful old treas and check out the San Martin statue and other sculptures in the square. Nice place to sit on the bench on a hot afternoon reading or people watching ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Aug 8, 2011 Basically a place for shipping, with many brand stores. Nothing to go out of your way for if you are not interested in that sort of thing ![]() Al Ghardaqah, Red Sea Region, Egypt ![]() Added Aug 6, 2011 The Red Sea is great, but there are much better resort towns than this. The beach I stayed near was shallow and full of sea urchins. Sharm's beaches are far superior to Hurghada ![]() Cairo, Cairo & Surrounding Region, Egypt ![]() Added Aug 6, 2011 It's dirty, dusty and hot. Not the world's friendliest city, but totally worth the trip. Definitely check out the Pyramids, theEgyptian Museum for the history, as well as the old part of the city for a great cultural experience ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Aug 4, 2011 Worth a look at any time of the year and the site of New York City's most iconic Xmas tree and skating rink in the winter. Be warned though that its always crowded around XMas. ![]() Venice, Veneto Region, Italy ![]() Added Aug 4, 2011 This is a beautiful building and a great tour to take if you are interested in the history and culture of the Venetian Republic. There is some great art, so allow yourself some time to take it all in, and be sure to check out the map room ![]() Jaipur, Rajasthan, India ![]() Added Aug 4, 2011 You can't miss this place as it is right in the heart of Jaipur, within the city walls and on the main drag. The name translates as "Palace of Winds" due to the 953 small windows in the building front, which would allow ladies to view life outside of the palace, but remain unseen. you might want to go out on the balcony accross the street for better photography opportunities. ![]() Luzern, Central Switzerland, Switzerland ![]() Added Aug 3, 2011 It is actually a pretty cool looking statue, there is something incredibly noble and sad upon the lion with the broken spear in its body. Definitely worth a look when you're in Luzern. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Aug 2, 2011 Being a toy store this place is more enjoyable for kids than adults, but I think even for adults it's pretty cool. Make sure to stop by as you walk 5th avenue near Central Park. ![]() Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina ![]() Added Aug 2, 2011 Both neighborhoods are amazing. Recoleta is the fancier of the two and it is the area of the famous cemetary where Evita Peron is buried. Otherwise it is the upscale Buenos Aires neighborhood. San Telmo is much more grounded and earthy. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Jul 31, 2011 The Sounth Street Seaport is not a place I would rush to in New York, only because there are so many other cool things to do, but it's Ok for shopping at Pier 19 and some pretty good restaurants and bars ![]() Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 26, 2011 No doubt it's a beautiful walk, but the architecture is severe and the weather can be nasty. Still Edinburgh is a great place to visit and this is the heart of the city. ![]() Beijing, Beijing Province, China ![]() Added Jul 25, 2011 A great spot in Beijing, although tends to be crowded and you are not allowed inside the temple and can only look in from the outside. The temple is surrounded by a very nice park, which is also worth checking out. The park is full of elderly locals playing cards, chess or doing tai-chi. ![]() Beijing, Beijing Province, China ![]() Added Jul 23, 2011 This is one of the most visited sections of the Great Wall, so be prepared for crowds. However, when I visited in April, you could go in the opposite direction of the majority of the people and end up in on your own. there is a cable-car there, but it doesn't operate year round ![]() Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jul 21, 2011 You can't miss this square as it's right in the middle of Amsterdam and within easy access of everything there is to see in the downtown core of town. ![]() Bangkok, Central Thailand, Thailand ![]() Added Jul 21, 2011 A huge mall with a multiplex theater on the top floor and many brand name stores. Not the kind of thing you go to Bangkok for, quite honestly, as you can get most of this stuff anywhere else in the West ![]() Istanbul, Marmara Region, Turkey ![]() Added Jul 21, 2011 Enormous bazaar, with a huge variety of souvenirs. Be prepared to haggle and spend a long time doing that. Great for shoppers, avoid if you don't enjoy that sort of thing ![]() Bangkok, Central Thailand, Thailand ![]() Added Jul 20, 2011 One of the must-see places in Bangkok along with Wat Po next door. Fascninating to see the Thai temples and interesting to see the European influence in the architecture of the palace. ![]() Victoria, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jul 19, 2011 This place really is pretty. It's impressive what time, effort and dedication can do and amazing how a former quarry can be turned into a place of such beauty. Certainly worth a visit if you are in Victoria for more than a day. If you have less time, I'd try to see the orcas first. ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Jul 18, 2011 Beautiful and huge castle compex. The views both inside and outside castle walls are amazing. There is a great and atmospheric beer hall just outside castle walls and I would suggest walking down to into town, as its quite scenic. ![]() Bangkok, Central Thailand, Thailand ![]() Added Jul 18, 2011 Huge shopping center in Bangkok. Tons of stores including top international brands. Great restaurants and movie theaters. ![]() Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina ![]() Added Jul 16, 2011 Trendy shopping area in Buenos Aires. Some boutique stores and neat restaurants. Worth a visit for sure. ![]() Istanbul, Marmara Region, Turkey ![]() Added Jul 16, 2011 Absolutely gorgeous building with the Christian and Islamic symbols of faith interlinked, giving the Aya Sophia an absolutely unique look ![]() Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 16, 2011 Pretty typical shopping street, but there is a large public garden next to it. Also the view of the castle is wonderful. ![]() Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 16, 2011 High street is also known as the Royal Mile and is the main tourist walk in Edinburgh leading from the Castle to the Palace, both of which are the major reason to come to town in the first place. ![]() Las Vegas, Nevada, United States ![]() Added Jul 16, 2011 This fountain is definitely worth a look, especially at night with the illumination. Come a few minutes early as it can be busy in front of the fountain. ![]() Las Vegas, Nevada, United States ![]() Added Jul 16, 2011 It's expensive to go up there, so see if you can find a coupon to avoid paying full price. Worth it for the view. Didn't try the coaster, but heard it was nothing special. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Jul 15, 2011 Another great view of the city and worthc checking out both in the day and at night. Plus, consider dinner at the Rainbow Room if you are prepared to splurge. It's an iconic New York experience ![]() Delphi, Greece ![]() Added Jul 15, 2011 Awesome place and an easy day trip from Athens. Be warned though, that it is a bit of a walk from the main oracle site to the stadium and can be tough when the weather is hot. Make sure to read up on the place before you go, or get a good guide. ![]() Toronto, Ontario, Canada ![]() Added Jul 14, 2011 A mecca for shoppers and some great restaurants are on this street. Yonge is also the longest street in the world. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 14, 2011 Another important landmark in a city of so many. Worthwhile climbing the Arch to check out the view of the downtown area on one side and La Defense on the other. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 14, 2011 Fascinating place and it will take more than half a day to tour all of it. The lines seemed smaller when I was there in the afternoon, than on a morning tour. Check out the beautiful ravens living on the Tower grounds and the crown jewels are worth taking a look at. ![]() Jarash, Jordan ![]() Added Jul 14, 2011 Absoilutely amazing. This is an extremely well preserved Ancient Roman city. Plan on spending half a day here to see all of it. It is a great journey back in time ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 14, 2011 A beautiful London landmark with a fantastic intricate design. Try to check it out after dark as well, when it is illuminated. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 14, 2011 Not a must-see. There are very many better view points in Paris and the building itself is pretty ugly for my taste. ![]() San Francisco, California, United States ![]() Added Jul 14, 2011 One of the most beautiful cities in the world, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to explore and get a good guide book or a local guide ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 14, 2011 This location is all about the shopping pretty much, but no visit to London is complete without a quick photo stop here. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 13, 2011 Unless you have kids who really want to go, I think there are many much more interesting day trips to be done from Paris than this, like Versailles or Mont St Michel to name just a couple. This is great for kids, but keep in mind that you will spend most of your time in line and if you are older than 12 there really isn't all that much to see and do here. ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Jul 13, 2011 An absolute must visit museum in Athens, fascinating and educational. The Acropolis and nearby sites are the major reason for a trip to Athens. ![]() Calgary, Alberta, Canada ![]() Added Jul 13, 2011 Definitely worth a look, if you like that sort of thing, especially on a clear day, because that way you can get a good look at the Rockies. ![]() Las Vegas, Nevada, United States ![]() Added Jul 11, 2011 Worth a look for the view alone, although it's one of he older hotels on the Strip. There is a rollercoaster ride on the top that is worth checking out and a good view of the Strip below ![]() Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jul 10, 2011 Take the water taxi from False Creek/Science World. It's all about the view. You can sit down with a bite to eat and enjoy looking at downtown Vancouver. Check out the art galleries as well. ![]() Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jul 10, 2011 Formerly a warehouse district, now a place with design stores and many many restaurants. There are some great places to get some food from really basic and casual to fancy and sophisticated. Most of the good places require a wait though. ![]() Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jul 10, 2011 The place in Vancouver to go hit the shops. Lots of brand name stores and souvenir shops. Some great restaurants in the neighborhood as well. An nice way to spned an afternoon. ![]() Sharm el-Sheikh, Sinai Region, Egypt ![]() Added Jul 10, 2011 It's really all about the Red Sea and the snorkeling and diving there. There is lots of touristy stuff going on in Sharm, but it's the sea that make it worthwhile. The city does have lots of shopping, nightlife, dessert safari. Lots of 5 star resorts in town nd they are not expensive at all. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Jul 9, 2011 The view from the boat was the best part of the trip for me, to be perfectly honest. The statue itself is impressive, but I found the climb to the crown totally not worth it, as the windows were small and dirty, and the view not that great. ![]() Las Vegas, Nevada, United States ![]() Added Jul 9, 2011 Similar to some of the other big and glitzy Strip hotels, but the Soviet Union-themed bar with the Lenin statue is pretty funky and the food at the steakhouse was awesome ![]() Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jul 9, 2011 Nice restaurants and good coffee shops. Not a bad place to stroll around for a few hours, do some browsing, shopping and then a quick lunch. A funky Vancouver neighborhood ![]() Moscow, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Jul 9, 2011 Being from Moscow, it's hard for me to be objective about this place, but I think it really is beautiful and a site worth seeing in person. Be sure to go inside St Basil's Cathedral and check out the shopping at GUM on the other side of the square from the Kremlin ![]() Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jul 9, 2011 A great walk from Coal Harbor to English Bay or vice versa. You can bike, walk rollerblade around Stanley Park, with some terrific views. Some great picnic spots, ![]() Amman, Amman Region, Jordan ![]() Added Jul 9, 2011 Amman is far from the most interesting part of Jordan, but the citadel is impressive and the view of the city is pretty neat. Definitely visit the Archeological museum for a few hours ![]() Barcelona, Catalonia Region, Spain ![]() Added Jul 8, 2011 Absolutely unreal and THE must see place in a city of many must-see places. Absolutely fascinating. Still a work in progress which is part of the charm. ![]() Valletta, Malta ![]() Added Jul 8, 2011 Valletta is very tiny, as is all of Malta, so you can't miss this fort. It is a beautiful place and a great site at sunset. Terrific sense of history. ![]() Moscow, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 Not much to see here. Go only if you're really into seeing a dead person put on public display. If you want to see it, make sure you find out the schedule ahead of time, as it is only open to the public a few mornings a week. ![]() Moscow, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 This famous and historical street in Moscow has turned into an empty tourist trap with souvenir stands and overpriced poor quality restaurants. A place to avoid most of the time. ![]() Washington, District of Columbia, United States ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 Be prepared for rain, or more accurately drizzle. But it's a nice laidback city. Check out Pike Place Market and the Seattle Art museum, as well as maybe a whale watching tour ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 A nice Prague neighborhood, but can be overrun with tourists most of the time. Still worth taking a walk around. ![]() Saint Petersburg, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 Beautiful cathedral in the heart of St Petersburg. Be sure to climb to the rooftop for an amazing view of the city center. Just make sure to be dressed for the weather, as it can get pretty windy up there, even in the summer time. ![]() Kyyiv, Central Ukraine, Ukraine ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 The heart of the Christian Orthodox Church. Beautiful churches and monastery on the banks of the Dnieper. Allow yourself plenty of time to see the Lower Caves - crypt temples. Be sur to dress appropriately as this is a place of worship, not a tourist site ![]() Argentina ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 Absolutely terrific spot. Be prepared for rain, as the weather is unpredictable at any time of the year and there is a reason why the call it the rainforest. Rain or shine, though, the Falls are amazing! ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 Not my favourite museum in Paris, but understandable if it's on your bucket list. You can do the museum as fast or as slow as you like, to the point that there are signs showing you the way to the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. If you just saw those, it would probably take you less time than the lineup to get in ![]() Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 Great place to walk, bike or skate around. You can walk the seawall from English Bay to Coal Harbor in a few hours or just take a few shortcuts. The park also has an aquarium, totempoles and an outdoor swimming pool among other things ![]() Moscow, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 The main campus of the University is just outside the downtown core of the city. The main building is one of 7 similar Stalin-era skyscrapers and worth checking out. There are huge parks nearby and a view point, from which you get a great view of downtown Moscow on a clear day ![]() Brussels, Brussels Region, Belgium ![]() Added Jul 5, 2011 Not much to see there... But if you're in Brussels anyway, then why not, right? Sometimes they make it piss beer and sometimes they put costumes on it. ![]() Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 3, 2011 Absolutely wonderful basilica and the byzantine mosaics are amazing. Ravenna is a terrific little town to visit for architecture buffs ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 3, 2011 Worth a look if you are in the area, but there are certainly much more intersting parts of Paris than La Defense, which seems like a piece of North America transplanted to France ![]() Ho Chi Minh City, South-East Vietnam, Vietnam ![]() Added Jul 3, 2011 A must for modern history buffs, but worth checking out for a perspective on the war that you will not see in the West ![]() Moscow, Central Russia, Russia ![]() Added Jul 3, 2011 Certanily a must-see, but be prepared that you will not get access to many parts outside the main churches and tickets will cost extra. ![]() Montreux, Lake Geneva Region, Switzerland ![]() Added Jul 3, 2011 A beautiful castle, made famous by Lord Byron's poem and definitely worth a visit. Great views of the town and the lake. Plan on spending at least a couple of hours touring the castle. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Jul 3, 2011 Great view of Midtown Manhattan and worth the climb. Do either this or the Hancock building, No need to do both ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Jun 30, 2011 More for the shoppaholics, so not my favorite place in the city, but certainly a New York institution. The holiday window displays are not as famous as those of Macy's, but definitely still worth a look ![]() Arlington, Virginia, United States ![]() Added Jun 16, 2011 Worth a visit if you want to pay your respects at the Kennedy memorial and the Tomb of the Unknowns, and many other monuments and memorials ![]() Dubai, United Arab Emirates ![]() Added Jun 16, 2011 The cynical view is that it's a tower view like any other and although this is the tallest building in the world, the view point is not actually anywhere near the top floor. But this is still worth checking out. One thing I loved was the digital binoculars that allow you to see the close up view, the night view and the view ten years ago! ![]() Ubud, Nusa Tenggara Islands (Lesser Sundra Islands), Indonesia ![]() Added Jun 15, 2011 Ubud is a bit removed from all beach towns of Bali, but definitely worth a day trip and the rice fields are beautiful. There is also a souvenir market in town for those interested in shopping, and the Monkey Forest is definitely a highlight ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Jun 15, 2011 A cool enough place, but not as must-see as some of the others in the city. Still, there are plenty of good restaurants and places for tourists interested in souvenir shopping and Old Town is just minutes away. ![]() Beijing, Beijing Province, China ![]() Added Jun 14, 2011 Absolutely amazing. Be prepared for crowds, though as there are over 100000 visitors per day at this site, so it makes sense to try and go on a weekday. Get a guide to help you make sense of what you are seeing and allow a lot of time to take it all in. ![]() Al Uqsur, Nile Valley, Egypt ![]() Added Jun 14, 2011 Another must-see site in Luxor. Although the tombs themselves are underground, you do spend some time above ground and it can get really hot, so be sure to cover your head if you are sensitive to the heat. Also, be prepared to climb down into small enclosed spaces, so not for the claustrophobic ![]() Venice, Veneto Region, Italy ![]() Added Jun 14, 2011 Definitely a must-do in Venice, with a serenade or without. You get a totally different experience of the city from canal level, than you do from walking the bridges ![]() Al Uqsur, Nile Valley, Egypt ![]() Added Jun 14, 2011 Luxor temple is one of the must-see sights in Luxor with a great Nile view. If you go on a Nile cruise chances are this temple may not be included in your tour program, which is fine as it is close to the harbor and can be easily discovered on your own. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Jun 13, 2011 Definitely worth braving the long lines and doing at least once (although you could do it in the day and in the evening for a different view). Be prepared for a wait, especially in the summer, but the view is worth it. ![]() Wadi Rum, Jordan ![]() Added Jun 13, 2011 Did this on the way from Petra to Akkaba and it was pretty enjoyable. I wouldn't go out of the way to do it, but it is interesting to retrace Lawrence of Arabia's steps in the comfort of an air-conditioned van. The camel ride at bedouin camp was fun too ![]() Puerto Princesa, Palawan Island, Philippines ![]() Added Jun 12, 2011 It was all right, but I didn't really get what all the hype was about. Do it if you are into caving, but don't go out of your way to visit it otherwise. There are many other places worth checking out in Palawan, like Honda Bay ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Jun 8, 2011 Absolutely must-do Manhattan site. Great on the weekend. In the winter check out the skating rink. Also, there is a great walk from the Metropolitan Museum into the park, where the skyline is just far enough away for a great vista ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added Jun 8, 2011 THe top floor revolving restaurant on Times Square is actually kind of cool, and for my money it's better to see Times Square from there, than to struggle through the crowds of tourists in the middle of it. ![]() Victoria, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jun 5, 2011 A fun place to check out and easy as several whale watching companies start their tours here. There are funky floating homes on the piers and a couple of junk food stands, but the best part are the seals that come in to the wharf to beg for scraps of food. ![]() Victoria, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jun 5, 2011 The prices is right at this hotel. There is certainly nothing fancy about it, it is a typical budget motel accommodation. But the location is terrific, as you are right next door to the Parliament Buildings. Overall, a great place to stay in Victoria if you are on a budget ![]() Banff, Alberta, Canada ![]() Added Jun 5, 2011 Take the gondola up Sulphur mountain and you will get a fantastic view of the city and the surrounding peaks. Still, this is what a trip to greece is all about ![]() Versailles, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jun 5, 2011 Beautiful palace and garden and great to see at any time of the year, however, make sure to get there as early as possible. There are hordes of tourists. ![]() Siemreab, Cambodia ![]() Added Jun 3, 2011 Be prepared to spend at least a day here, but the more the better. Be sure to get a good guide, because there is a lot of history. ![]() Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 3, 2011 More than just a place for brothels (and really there aren't that many there). This part of downtown Amsterdam has some cool bars clubs and restaurants. Definitely worth a visit ![]() Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ![]() Added Jun 2, 2011 Cozy Italian restaurant in downtown Vancouver with a terrific wine list and probably the best pizza I have had outside New York City. The place is small, so be prepared for a wait if you go on the weekend. Was there on a Wednesday night and all the tables were taken, sat at the bar ![]() Florence, Tuscany Region, Italy ![]() Added Jun 2, 2011 A beautiful cathedral in Florence and a highlight of this amazing city. Be sure to go all the way to the top to check out the view as well ![]() Manila, Luzon Islands, Philippines ![]() Added Jun 2, 2011 Worth checking out if you have some time to kill in Manila before going on your beach holiday. There are are lots of enterainment options, including water park, dolphin shows, and many restaurants and shisha bar. ![]() San Marino, San Marino ![]() Added May 31, 2011 The castle is the reason to go to San Marino. Allow yourself a few hours to walk around. If you like collecting visa and airport stamps, I believe you can find an office where they stamp your passport, since San Marino is a separate country. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added May 31, 2011 The building itself is a work of art and very fitting for a modern art museum. A great way to spend a rainy Paris afteroon. ![]() Pattaya, Eastern Thailand, Thailand ![]() Added May 30, 2011 The hang part of Pattaya. The cakes are absolutely great. ![]() Puerto Iguazu, Litoral Region, Argentina ![]() Added May 29, 2011 The facility itself is a little tired, but the location can't be beat. The falls themselves are breathtakingly beautiful. ![]() Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada ![]() Added May 29, 2011 I never stayed here, but it is worth checking out just for the view from the hotel's restaurant. The hotel is right on the lake and the views are amazing. THere is a restaurant with a view at the top of the hotel, but it may be problematic to get a table, as hotel guests have priority ![]() San Francisco, California, United States ![]() Added May 28, 2011 This is as touristy as it gets, but still worth it. The best part for me was the fresh clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. Other than that, it's just a place to get a tour of the bay and Alcatrazz and check out the souvenir shops ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added May 28, 2011 A must do part of Manhattan and a great walk, although don't expect to do it all in one day, if you start from the Upper East Side and the museums. Located about half an hour from the city and allow yourself at least a couple of hours to see all of it. Also, like most places in China, be prepared to face large crowds of people. For obvious reasons, you can not get too close to the warriors, but what you do see is amazing. Check out the beautiful painted bridges. ![]() New York, New York, United States ![]() Added May 17, 2011 Nothing special about the lake. Central Park is worth a visit when in Manhattan, but don't plan to spend too much time there, if your time in the city is limited. There are much cooler places to check out ![]() Kathmandu, Nepal ![]() Added May 17, 2011 One of Kathmandu's two bigger stupa sites, this one lies above the Kathmandu valley with a good view of the city. Be careful with cameras, as there are a bunch of monkeys who live on the site and love to prey on unsuspecting tourists. ![]() Bhaktapur, Nepal ![]() Added May 17, 2011 Fascinating place with beautiful temples, including a large pagoda, an art museum and curio shops.
