It is a little touristy though.....but with the right amount of sunshine, it is a goldmine. All the major embassies are located here and at the end, the jewel in the crown awaits....The Brandenburg Gate! ![]() Howick, North Island, New Zealand ![]() Added Jun 14, 2012 Located in the affluent suburb of Bucklands Beach, Masala Indian Restaurant is one of the best restaurants that I have ever been to. It has just opened and the place is already getting people's tongues wagging. The Garlic Na'an is just simply the best at this place. I would recommend this place to anyone. ![]() Budapest, Central Hungary, Hungary ![]() Added May 30, 2012 One of the most amazing places in the world. It has an impressive history and a rich cultural tradition. The locals were extremely friendly and the Danube is a highlight. Buda castle at night is a joy and don't forget to go to the Opera house. ![]() Budapest, Central Hungary, Hungary ![]() Added May 28, 2012 One of the best and most interesting places that I have been to. The Dohnanyi Street Synagogue is one amazing piece of architecture. My personal favourite was the shrine to Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish diplomat who saved so many Jewish people from the Holocaust and Stalin. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added May 21, 2012 A great place to hang out with friends or family or both. The diversity in art, culture and fashion pretty much sums up why Paris is an internationally renown city. If you have nothing to do on your last day in Paris, visit this place. It is totally worth it. ![]() Penrose, North Island, New Zealand ![]() Added May 12, 2012 A Mecca for League fans in New Zealand. If you don't understand how Rugby League functions, you are missing out on something of pure gold. During a Warriors game, this 30 000 seater stadium will just light up and keep you entertained for the whole duration. Definitely worth going to. I actually rate this place higher than Eden Park sometimes. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added May 10, 2012 These are probably the most cliche things to do when you are in London. I found Madam Tussaud a rip-off in terms of price however the London Eye is definitely worth doing. The Tower of London is also a must-must but it isn't that exciting. ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added May 9, 2012 An amazing place to go. I went in January and despite the chilly weather, it was perfect. I would have to say that this was one of the highlights of Prague. If I had the chance to go back, I would definitely visit this place. ![]() Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina ![]() Added May 3, 2012 One of the most amazing place on earth. It has so much tragic history due to the events that happened during the Dirty War period (1976 - 1983). To this day, the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo (Las Madres de la Plaza de Mayo) still protest in front of the building every week. These are the mothers who lost their children during the Military rule. Despite the tragedy behind it, La Casa Rosada is a wonderful place to visit. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Apr 30, 2012 It is an incredible feat of architecture. A perfect place to go for a walk or just wander around aimlessly. However, just check the weather before you go. When it rains, even a building like the Belvedere can look ugly. ![]() Rome, Lazio Region, Italy ![]() Added Apr 30, 2012 One of the most amazing places in the world to visit. It pretty much sums up how incredible the Roman Empire was/is. This is a definite must! The audio explanation of the Church itself is well worth it. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Apr 25, 2012 A very touristy area but it can't be missed. The hustle and bustle vibe of Paris can really be experienced here. However, being touristy means that everything is very expensive so I would suggest not eating out here. ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Mar 20, 2012 On the outside it can look either weird or cool (depending on your taste on architecture). It is just one of the many wonders in the beautiful city of Prague. It is located quite close to the river so it shouldn't be that difficult to find. Many of the city tours go past here. ![]() Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina ![]() Added Feb 6, 2012 An awesome place with a bit of tragic history. All guided tours of the city will pass through this amazing plaza. My only regret is that I didn't get to spend enough time here. The tragedy part comes into surface with the protest of the mothers of the "desaparecidos" during the Dirty War. It is a piece of history that lives in the hearts of all Argentines. ![]() Piha, North Island, New Zealand ![]() Added Dec 21, 2011 Truly one of the most gorgeous places on this earth that is taken for granted. Careful of the waves though, a lot of foreigners have died because of the notorious undersea currents. It is fair to say that Piha is the jewell in the crown out of all the sights that the Waitakere ranges has on offer. ![]() Berlin, Berlin Region, Germany ![]() Added Nov 12, 2011 I was fortunate enough to have a well-travelled fellow New Zealander guide me around. The tour was full of laughter and the people were just amazing. Berlin is a city rich in culture and history. If one doesn't know where to start, this is definitely the place. ![]() Auckland, North Island, New Zealand ![]() Added Oct 17, 2011 An "exciting" place to visit if you're into amusement parks but its really not that great. One of the most overpriced theme parks and the rides aren't really of high quality. However, its worth going at least once. ![]() Venice, Veneto Region, Italy ![]() Added Oct 16, 2011 The most iconic landmark in Venice. Its quite easy to get there from the city centre or even from the outskirts due to the efficient boat services that run through the city. Its a definite must-must and if you are there, do check out the cathedral as well! ![]() Tauranga, North Island, New Zealand ![]() Added Oct 9, 2011 Its an interesting way to explore the town but there are many other ways to explore. The boat charter can be really expensive. Also, make sure that the seas aren't rough before you go out. The beaches in Tauranga may be the most gorgeous beaches in the world however it can quickly become a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde if the weather turns for the worst. ![]() Rome, Lazio Region, Italy ![]() Added Oct 9, 2011 It is one of the most amazing pieces of architecture that I have ever seen. The Ponte d'Angelo is nearby so one pretty much gets more than what they bargained for. Furthermore the Vatican is not too far away. Therefore, it is definitely worth going to! ![]() Auckland, North Island, New Zealand ![]() Added Oct 5, 2011 Its a fascinating place to visit if one is interested in Maori/New Zealand history however it can become quite bland. The best way to get there would be to catch a train and get off at Grafton Station or take the bus and get off at the Auckland Hospital Bus station. There is a huge lack of parking space nearby. ![]() Versailles, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Sep 17, 2011 Pretty much built for tourists but still a great place to go. Just remember to get there early during the day (otherwise you will end up in the queue for a good two hours) and that it will take you the whole day to see it. The Hall of Mirrors is extraordinary. ![]() Tauranga, North Island, New Zealand ![]() Added Sep 17, 2011 It has a wonderful view of the sunrise and the sunset. Its definitely worth going if you are in the area and make sure you get to chat with the locals. They are super friendly. If that doesn't do you justice, then something is terribly wrong. ![]() Geneve, Lake Geneva Region, Switzerland ![]() Added Sep 17, 2011 It has one of the best views that I have ever seen. The boat ride out was rather expensive but it was worth it. The lake is a wonderful place to visit (and very clean to). Definitely must go during the night when the city lights up. ![]() Rome, Lazio Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 19, 2011 Apart from the fact that one has to wait in line for 2 - 5 hours (which can be rather tedious), it is an amazing place to visit. The only thing that is missing is the sound of the crowd cheering the gladiators on. Furthermore, its quite an expensive place to get into but definitely worth every buck. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 16, 2011 Although nothing really dynamic or "interesting" happens here in this area of the city of lights, its a nice neighbourhood with some charming personalities. Its highly recommended to try some bars out here in the night due to the safe nature of the place. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Jun 22, 2011 This can be quite an overwhelming site due to the sheer size of the architecture. Its a captivating, innovative piece of architecture that stands in Vienna today. Most definitely worth a visit. During the peak tourist seasons, this place will be crowded so do be careful when you are in this area. ![]() Auckland, North Island, New Zealand ![]() Added Jun 16, 2011 Just like the slogan says, its where everyone gets a "bargain" with a money-back guarantee. Its pretty much the closest thing to heaven for a lot of people; children especially. So, if you don't have anything to do on a sunday afternoon, this is the place to hang out. ![]() Rome, Lazio Region, Italy ![]() Added Jun 14, 2011 An absolutely exciting place to visit. Not too many tourists (in comparison with say the Colosseum or the Trevi Fountain) so you can actually get a great view of the place. Recommended to anyone from lovers of ancient history to architecture aficionados. ![]() Kato Sounion, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Jun 9, 2011 Quite an amazing place to visit. The view from the top of the cliff is absolutely stunning. The best time to visit this place would have to be during sunset. There is a bus every 30 minutes from Athens that goes to Kato Sounion and the journey takes approximately 2 hours if one takes the coastal bus. There is an alternative which is the inland bus (its 30 minutes shorter than the other however the journey is not scenic at all). ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Jun 6, 2011 This is a definite must-must for visitors to the Greek capital. The best time to go up the ruins is during sunset. The view from the top is really breathtaking. For students, its extremely cheap so I urge you to do it when you can! ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added May 25, 2011 A haven for music lovers and musicians alike. The general museum is free for anyone under 25 and it is a wonderful place to go to. The exhibition of instruments through the ages and instruments of the world are just outstanding. Furthermore, the Harmonia Mundi store inside the museum itself is also eye-candy for music lovers. ![]() Cambridge, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added May 25, 2011 This place might not look like much but once inside, one is exposed to the great wonders of science. This laboratory is legendary in that it has produced 29 Nobel Prize winners. It is free to go in and there are some amazing objects on display. A must for people who love physics and science in general. ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added May 25, 2011 The Old Town Square in Prague is just simply a wonder. It has been the heart of the Czech capital since the 10th century. It is also a UNESCO Heritage Site (deservedly so) and there are many nice little cafes, restaurants and museums nearby. The jewel in the crown would have to be the view of the city from the clock tower in the square. This can't be missed. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added May 24, 2011 One of the most beautiful areas of Paris. The touristy bits are nice (Moulin Rouge, Basilica Sacre Coeur etc) but the "non-touristy" area is just as beautiful, if not even better. The view from the hill is just stunning but make sure its a sunny day because if its foggy, you are guaranteed to see nothing. Another great place to visit would have to be "Le Lapin Agile." This was Pablo Picasso's favourite cabaret bar. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added May 22, 2011 A really fancy restaurant in a fancy area (near Le Jardin du Luxembourg). Although it seems costly, the food is great and the staff are extremely friendly. Its perfect for a lunch or a dinner party on the weekend. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added May 22, 2011 A great restaurant for people who love exotic food.
