I'm relatively new to the travel scene, although I moved around a bit as a child I didn’t really see much of the places. When I graduated school in 2007 I went on a trip to Borneo where I did some volunteer work and some trekking. It sparked a passion in me and the day I got home I started saving to go back. I returned 5 months later (taking half a GAP year) and at the same time went to Vietnam. I love travelling because I feel like I become more alive and the whole time I’m away I just don’t stop learning. I come home with this extra knowledge about the history and culture of each new place. I really love animals and nature and so I go trekking in every country I visit. I think there is nothing better than a lush rainforest! Malaysia has been like a second home to me these last five years. It seems to be a starting off or ending point to most of my adventures. Since 2007 I've been to Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, China and the US. I've had some amazing experiences so far and can't wait to get on the road again! This Inn is situated right near an internet cafe, massage parlour and a lovely (although pricey) restaurant serving Indian food. There is a pathway leading through to a smaller lesser known beach and when I went to the beach there was no one on it. It is also a short walk away from the main strip at Pantai Chenang. Very good value for money. ![]() Pulau Langkawi, West Coast Malaysia, Malaysia ![]() Added Sep 29, 2011 Nice beach area with a big strip of shops and restaurants. The most amazing thing I thought about this area of Malaysia are the beach cats. I'm used to seeing dogs on the beach all over SE Asia, but never cats! It was adorable to see the beach cats playing in the sand and even stealing small fish from the water’s edge! ![]() Kissimmee, Florida, United States ![]() Added Sep 29, 2011 The show was OK but the whole package didn’t really deliver what was promised. The food was not very nice and the free wine and beer turned out to be pretty bad too (and hard to get!).The horses were beautiful and the tricks impressive, but I wondered about their treatment. Overall I probably would not recommend this show. ![]() Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China ![]() Added Sep 29, 2011 Nice and clean new hotel. Was told it was close to all the attractions of west lake. That's true if you have a car, but walking-wise it takes a while to get to west lake. Easier just to take a taxi which is pretty cheap. My room came with breakfast which was chinese buffet style and alright. The reception staff were friendly but had trouble with their english. They were happy to help when they could though. There was a restaurant but I didn't try it. Overall I was happy with this hotel. ![]() Phnom Penh, Cambodia ![]() Added Sep 26, 2009 This museum is very disturbing. There are pictures of all the victims and some of the horrible things done to them. It's set in an old school that the Khmer Rouge took over as a place to torture and murder people. ![]() Siemreab, Cambodia ![]() Added Sep 26, 2009 An old temple set in a forested backdrop. there are tree's that grow up through the ancient walls ![]() Siemreab, Cambodia ![]() Added Sep 26, 2009 An amazing experience, the sites seem never ending. I hired a tuk tuk driver to take me around and entry cost $20 - was well worth the price. ![]() Kanchanaburi, Central Thailand, Thailand ![]() Added Aug 15, 2009 Just beautiful. Can take a bus there or hire a bike. Great day trip! ![]() Champasak, Southern Laos, Laos ![]() Added Aug 14, 2009 The most relaxing place in Laos. Known as '4000 Islands' Si Pan Don is a mass of small islands near the border of Laos and Cambodia. I've been to three of these Islands. Don Khong: The Big Island and the only one to be connected to the electricity grid. As a result you'll find the best accommodation in the region here. Not as popular as some of the other islands but worth a visit. There is some trekking to be done and a bike ride around the island is both exhausting and rewarding. The countryside is mostly very pretty although some areas are quite polluted. Despite this, the people (as everywhere in Laos) are very friendly and where ever you go you'll be followed with a shower of 'Sabaii Dii'. Don Dhet: Accommodation here is pretty basic, but people don't come here for luxury. It's a little bit of a party island (compared to the others anyway) and there is a fear that it will go the same way that Vang Vieng did. The scenery is just beautiful though! The best thing to do here is find a place with a hammock and have a beer lao or five. Don Khon: There is a bridge connecting Don Khon with Don Dhet. Near the bridge there are mildly interesting remains of an old french rail-line (the only one in Laos) and an old engine. Don Khon is where the main natural attractions are, including a few waterfalls, some nice cycling paths and a chance to see some rare dolphins. Don Khon tend to have a more 'Lao' feel than Don Dhet. ![]() Misha T. commented... Added Aug 21, 2009 Your writing is a work of art. ![]() Douglas B. commented... Added Aug 20, 2009 ![]() Champasak, Southern Laos, Laos ![]() Added Aug 14, 2009 Beautiful ruins set on a grassy hillside. A little bit of a climb (on steep steps) to the top, but with a rewarding view. Best to go early before the crowds come. The place is very peaceful in the early morning. A good way to get there is by hired bike. It's an easy 9km bike ride past rice fields and smaller villages. ![]() Ninh Binh, Red River Delta, Vietnam ![]() Added Dec 30, 2008 Just at the entrance of the park there is a Misha T. commented... Added Aug 21, 2009 You very good for make information. Tzequi! ![]() Kinarut, Sabah Region, Malaysia ![]() Added Dec 27, 2008 The rooms were clean and comfortable. The area has a pool, a restaurant, a communal TV and DVD player and it opens out onto the beach. The beach is not the nicest but looks absolutely beautiful at sunset. You can view the sunset from up in the restaurant. The food is all very nice, They offer limited alcohol though and charge a corkage for bottles of wine (20RM I think..). Their ice tea is very nice and everything is very convenient because you can charge it to your room and pay at checkout. They do laundry. In August 2008 there were some gorgeous puppies running around the place that were really fun to play with. All in all I would defiantly recommend this for a place to stay if you want to get away from the city for a bit and want good value for money. ![]() Miri, Kandahar & Southern Afghanistan, Afghanistan ![]() Added Dec 26, 2008 Great place, clean facilities and friendly staff. I would definitely stay and again and recommend. ![]() Maui, Maui, United States ![]() Added Dec 26, 2008 a beautiful place to relax on the beach. it's cristal clear waters come at a price though. ![]() Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ![]() Added Dec 25, 2008 A great place to come and relax. There are beautiful swans and a lovely lake. There are some walking paths that are very peaceful with plaques giving information about the plant species that you pass. ![]() Healesville, Victoria, Australia ![]() Added Dec 25, 2008 A great zoo where you can see all Australian wildlife like kangaroos and koalas. They also have a variety of functions and special programs like 'keeper for a morning' or 'vet assistant for a morning', both are lots of fun, you can really get up close and personal with the animals. ![]() Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ![]() Added Dec 25, 2008 great place to see penguins or just relax in the main town of Cowes. There is a puzzle amusement park called 'amazing things' which was lots of fun and a chocolate factory nearby. ![]() Bareo, Sarawak Region, Malaysia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 A homestay in Bario. From there they can organize treks to surrounding villages and longhouses. Nancy is very friendly and a wonderful cook and her pineapples are just the best! Emma H. commented... Added Aug 29, 2009 I find myself strangely attracted to your brain- i satyed there and agree with you, once you have had a taste of nancy's cooking and pineapples you just have to go back again and again. Nancy's family are so friendly and they make thier house your home for the time you stay there. they help to provide intresting and helpful information about thiers and others life in the very remote village. if is deffently a trip i would advise anyone to go on ![]() Coober Pedy, South Australia, Australia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 An interesting place to stop on the way to the centre of Australia. It's located along the Stuart Highway. The town in an opal mining town that because of the heat mostly lives underground. It can be a little dangerous in central australia. But in a group it's OK. There is some awesome underground accommodation that I would recommend. Definitely a place to experience a different way of living! Misha T. commented... Driving through them you never know what you'll find, from a tiny German village to the biggest rocking horse in the world! ![]() Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 There is a great walk around kings canyon which is a little rough at the beginning but pretty relaxed after that. There is a pool of water mid walk that is great for swimming. The views are fantastic. ![]() Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 in real life it is even more incredible than photos. There is the option to climb it, but some of the indigenous people find it disrespectful. there is a cultural centre near the base that is worth visting. At sunset and sunrise the colours change and it's pretty amazing to watch. ![]() Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 an amusement park with some great rides, although it tends to be on the more expensive side. ![]() Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 a great market for everything. especially little australian nick nacks to bring home to friends and family. ![]() Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 A large shopping complex with train station attached, making getting there very easy. with the complex there is a movie theatre, bars, all sorts of shops and restaurants/cafes. There are a number of look outs on the way to the apostles which are just as beautiful as the apostles themselves. There is also a rock formation called London bridge which is worth checking out. ![]() Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 There is always something happening at fed square. Almost every week there is some sort of celebration or festival. Even when they're not running it's still a great place to hang out; with restaurants, bars, cafes, museum and a theater. ![]() Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 the beach sometimes has needles and glass on it, so care needs to be taken when walking on the sand. But the location and restaurants and walking path more than make up for that. ![]() Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Region, Malaysia ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 visited during the day and there were alot of other tourists. Was very beautiful though. ![]() Ho Chi Minh City, South-East Vietnam, Vietnam ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 there is just so much to see at this market. lots of lovely fresh fruit and veg along with every kind of souvenir imaginable ![]() Ho Chi Minh City, South-East Vietnam, Vietnam ![]() Added Dec 24, 2008 these tunnels are amazing. you have the chance to go into them and it's so cramped and then you're told they've been expanded for foreigners - you really get a feel of how small the tunnels were and how extended the network. It's a great place to learn about vietnamese history. There are some stalls out the front selling these amazing hats made out of beer or coke cans. ![]() Ho Chi Minh City, South-East Vietnam, Vietnam ![]() Added Dec 20, 2008 There is a guided tour within the palace where you can chose an English, French or Vietnamese speaking tour guide. It was very informative and there is a lot to be learned about Vietnamese history. Defiantly worth a visit. ![]() Hoi An, Vietnam ![]() Added Dec 20, 2008 Hoi An is a nice place to go for a more relaxing side of Vietnam travelling. There are lovely beaches and a nice feeling to the place. ![]() Ninh Binh, Vietnam ![]() Added Dec 20, 2008 The scenery was beautiful, but the people begging for money nearby was very saddening. ![]() Miri, Sarawak Region, Malaysia ![]() Added Dec 20, 2008 The climb to the summit of Mt. Api is challenging; the rocks are sharp and its uphill the whole way, but the view is worth it. There are some steep bits but ladders and ropes are provided to help. ![]() Sepilok, Sabah Region, Malaysia ![]() Added Dec 20, 2008 Just down the road from the Orangutan Sanctuary, the Sepliok B&B is a very convenient place (and one of the only places) to stay in Sepilok, Misha T. commented... Added Aug 21, 2009 If it weren`t for you I would have fallen into a pit of snakes and died a slow horrible death. Instead I got all my travel expenses paid for, found the love of my life and lived happily ever after. ![]() Ha Long, North Vietnam, Vietnam ![]() Added Nov 13, 2008 Great place to relax. The trekking was great and the bike riding too. ![]() Ha Long, North Vietnam, Vietnam ![]() Added Nov 13, 2008 A beautiful natural wonder and something, in my opinion, you cannot do in just one day. I did a 2 night 3day trip and stayed on Cat Ba Island, which was great. The kayaking was really amazing too. The only sad thing is the amount of pollution in the water ![]() Sandakan, Sabah Region, Malaysia ![]() Added Nov 13, 2008 A great chance to see Orangutans up close. The best time to see them is at feeding time when they come from all over the park to the one location. Misha T. commented... Instead I got all my travel expenses paid for, found the love of my life and lived happily ever after. ![]() Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Region, Malaysia ![]() Added Nov 13, 2008 Mount Kinabalu is one of those views that stays with you forever. There are two main trails: Timpohon and Mesilau. I've climbed both and I'd have to say the Mesilau trail has alot nicer views on the way up. It's also the more insteresting of the two - in terms of variation of the walking track and you tend to see more wildlife as there are very few people walking on it. The downside is that the Mesilau is a 2km longer trail and is only recommended for people that are fit. The timpohon trail is good too, you can often see lots of interesting pitcher plants, the downside of Timpohon route is that it can get quite crowded. The two trails meet just before the rest stop for the night and there is only one path to the summit. Misha T. commented... Added Aug 21, 2009 Danke. Thank-you. Merci. Gracias.
